What do YOU think about Derek Dooley?

Very humble, I like that...scratch that, I love that...with Kiffin it was all bravado, all the time, he has a sense of entitlement like...Dooley seems just the opposite, his recruiting background is impressive, he obviously is a good coach if Saban wants him everywhere he goes.

I know he is not the same person as Kiffin but think of this...

What Dooley just did to Tech is worse than what Kiffin did to us. I think we should be feeling sorry for Tech like the rest of the country is feeling sorry for us right now.

Dooley was their savior, he was their AD for goodness sake. Everyone at Tech has completely bought into D building their empire. D has improved every single aspect of La Tech athletics across the board facilities-fundraising-bowl games. You name it, he's done it for the better.

If this really is a dream job for him then I am satisfied. I don't like being done dirty and I hate that he had to leave the way he did but the way he addressed that issue immediately made me like him. I was looking forward to seeing how he would handle that issue in the presser.

Yep, like he said. It's life. You get knocked down sometimes but the quicker you can get up, the quicker you can move forward.

Guys, we aren't going to learn ANYTHING from a presser. Fulmer could charm you at a presser, if he needed to.

Look at the contracts, and look at the record. I'm sorry, but Hamilton has brought in twice a low-budget, under-qualified candidate...instead of offering commensurate contracts to the dozen or so highly qualified ones. Hamilton came in here while this program was on the downturn under Fulmer, this decade...and it has never returned to being a top-tier SEC team during his tenure. He's from Clemson, so our traditions and history really are almost as foreign to him as they were to Kiffin.

He's nothing more than a bean counter and for that reason alone...I'm really starting to re-think the whole Fulmer as AD thing. I am no Fulmer fan, but I want someone who has BEEN HERE during the Peyton Manning and Heath Shuler years...who desperately wants to get us back to the pinnacle in the SEC. Hamilton is not it. He is a suit from outside of Tennessee and we mean nothing to him other than a job. Neither Kiffin, nor Dooley were among the best candidates available. both had losing records. No way to spin out of that. Performance matters at this level...and for the sake of saving some cash, he sold us short....way short. We should be welcoming Wittingham as our next coach, not some no name, losing record Mike Shula clone. Hamilton needs to be forcefully run out of here, yesterday.

I know we all have our opinions and are welcome to express them, but I get very tired of reading your BS in every thread. Give it a F-ing rest dude.

TennaciousUTfan: I am curious to know if there is a list of coaches that were offered because I would like to see it. I want to know that Hamilton got the best guy that he could because the offers were made. I've heard people say Hamilton looked exhausted but I think he should have looked more like death on a cracker. Until we know for sure who was NOT offered I think it's safe to say this is the best he could do. If Cut was really offered before Dooley that is sad. I would think these negotiations were going on simultaneously.

I've been hung up on and really hoping for Bud Foster... I wanted him badly and as far as I know there was no phone call made to him. I could name several others that I wanted more but they would have been 1st time head coaches so in comparisson Dooley at least had HC & recruiting experience.

I challenge you to name a coach other than Wittingham that was not offered who is more qualified than dooley.

I don't know if this was the best hire in the world concerning wins and losses. Only time will tell that. Any who is sure that we are destined to have a losing season under him is foolish. You don't know until you give him a chance. Personally, I think he has the coaching skills to win us some games. I guarantee this though: He was the best guy to hire concerning class and integrity. We now have a man as a head coach, not a boy. At least we have integrity again. That counts for a lot in my book.

I was a little skeptical at first since he was like the 5th candidate, but i believe he is the perfect fit for Tennessee! It seems like he actually cares about the players than the money.

i was on the fence when i first heard the news around 4:30 because i was hoping for cutcliffe, but after seeing the press conference tonight i believe he is want this university needs right now: someone completely opposite of kiffin.

i just hope that he can help save what is left of this year's recruiting class.

I honestly wasnt for him as the next HC.

After looking at how he has done at LaTech, all the different "hats" he has wore under Saban, the PC tonite and how everyone outside of UT has great things to say about him...he is starting to grow on me.

Im still on the fence, but I am leaning toward the "He is going to be great in 2-3 years" side of the fence.

kiffin left Tuesday, it's Friday how exhausted could Hambone be

face it he made a few calls, then settled with Dooley
Hamilton owes the University better

Lets say, in the business world, that Hamilton was sent out to secure a big account...a critical one at that. And he comes back 3 days later with one small account closed on. None of the ones you hoped he would secure.

As a business owner, how would you feel? This one small account isn't going to help your business to stay afloat...Do you try and find a salesman who has a great reputation for closing the deal? Or do you accept excuses and hope things will get better years from now?

Hamilton needs to be replaced with an AD who can GIT ER DONE!

Any time you want to throw a few periods in there, feel free.

Jump on the Dooley train

I'm 100% behind Dooley, but I'm not riding anymore trains. The lame train took 8 of my 9 lives when it derailed on THE VOLS. We need a new saying, like THE DOOLEY DOZER!!. OR the DOUBLE D. but nooooooooooo trains, please. GO VOLS!!! :):mf_surrender:

Well thank God a press conference swayed alot of peoples opinions, i bet you have to glue the phone to the floor during infomercials.

During LK's press conference I got the feeling he was genuinely a backward douche.

During DD's presser I got the feeling he cares and appreciates the opportuinity.

I wanted Kippy, but I think Derek will be alright.

I am just glad LK is gone.

Well since u asked yes, yes I do.
