What do you anticipate the Cal game looking like?

Fair enough, ut Michigan didn't lose by 30 to a team that won 2 conference games, and they didn't need 38 to beat the Redhawks, and they actually scored on Penn State.

I hear ya. I just don't like analyzing a fictional matchup based on 1 game. Purdue wasn't great, but neither was Arizona. Purdue had a competent enough defense to hold Arizona to low points.

awefully cocky group here! everyone is acting like its going to be a pushover. Cal will be ready to play. I think we should beat them but we will get there A game after what happend last year.

it is pretty sad that the 5th placed pac-10 team can roll up 500 yards against the big-12 champion.

I think a majority of the posters here are pretty well grounded in UT football reality, but Cal has been overhyped for years and I think that's a lot of what you're reading.

I just want to say I love this thread and thank you for starting it. I was gone for a while so I just had the luck to run into it before it sank to oblivion.

With all due respect my outlook on this game is decidedly different than that of the average Vol. Still, I felt in the spirit of free debate I should post my own anticipations, however premature and haphazardly put together they are.

I anticipate the Cal game looking a lot like a team coming of age against a once superior opponent. Vol players so overconfident that they will be looking ahead to SMU instead of Cal. I anticipate tears in the eyes of thousands of Vol fans. I also anticipate gracious acceptance of defeat once it sets in.

At the end of the day the Cal defense will play the best it possibly can, holding you guys to say, oh, 28 points. The new WR’s will struggle but get a couple of TD’s against our inexperienced secondary. Our run D will do its best but one back will get about 90+ yards on us. Lots of runs that make it to the LB’s but not a lot of stops behind the line. Holding you to 28 points will look better than how the D actually performs.

The difference maker of the game will be the explosive Cal offense. Nate Longshore will come out looking like Drew Bledsoe when he was really good. Desean Jackson will look like Tim Brown did for Notre Dame. He will have both a receiving and a punt return touchdown. Justin Forsett will realize that this is his last year of eligibility and with little chance of making it to the NFL he will go balls out. The two other receivers, Robert Jordan and Lavelle Hawkins will be concerned about being overshadowed by D-Jax and the will step up there game to a new level. If it comes to special teams our field goal kicker should be the best in the Pac 10 this year and so anything up to the forty should be money.

All in all things are looking great. This is just what I anticipate though and I realize it differs greatly from that of other forum members. I anticipate I will do a lot of anticipating between now and September.

If even half of your dream were to come true, you guys would kill us as a kickstart to your undefeated run to the National Title. Then you'll wake up with your **ck in your hand and be disappointed by the fact that it still bears a strong resemblance to the pathetic team that you root for.

Why you gotta say that, Papa? Why? :cray:

What did you have for lunch? A half bottle of wine?

Well no, but if I had I could handle more than that. I was out of town and I just missed you guys. I thought about you the whole time I was gone. It's great to be home. This is my foster home until September.
