What do we have to be up by to see us some Dormady start 2nd half this week?

Nah. We don't burn his RS. Need this guy on the sideline as a motivator for a full 5 seasons.

You're worried about burning the redshirt of our 3rd-4th string QB? He's never gonna start at Tennessee unless there is catastrophic injury ahead of him. Let him play when there is opportunity for him to play IMO.

Talk about pulling a stat out of thin air. :lolabove: There is always a possibility of a QB getting hurt - it's a violent, contact sport - but I'm curious to see the formula you used to arrive at that 75% chance of injury.

It's not a stat. It's my opinion. I said I think... I cringe every time he runs.

Agree. I also think we saw last week what "works best"....Thomas' arse on the bench with Wiesman at center and Jack Jones at right guard as far as our interior.

It was like a different team altogether with that personnel on the field. Hate to say it but Thomas needs to ride the pine. Hopefully when Hall returns we will see even more improvement. We need him badly.

LOL! Calm down, KB. It was a joke. You must have not read my 2nd sentence.

Up by 80 at the half.

No matter the score, Dobbs and most of first team need to work into the third quarter.

Honestly, with a real QB you have to get them warmed up. Especially if they have never done it before. You have to let them get hot, and there in lies the problem. Nobody wants to give him the chance because they don't know what will happen if we go down two scores and he has to win the game. With pro style attacks though, and big boy football, you can score 4-5 quick scores once everything is humming. That's why Hurts is getting so much play time. My argument is we are going to have take a shot and see what we have at some point. We have the backs for the run game.

I don't think it is a terrible idea to have him start a couple of series in the first quarter. Our backup QB needs to get real in-game snaps. This is not a knock on Dobbs, it just makes sense to be ready if needed in the future.

If QD does come in he will be told to do the same thing he always is. Hand the ball off. We could be winning by 4 TDs and Butch wont let the guy just get in there and throw.

This is not a knock on Dobbs but why not play QD and Jones against Ohio and let Dobbs get some rest? He has taken some brutal hits the past 2 weeks. The guy is tougher than a coffin nail but he is not invincible. Let him heal and get ready for the gauntlet.

You just cannot rest Dobbs the week before Florida when there is so much to work on. I understand the sentiment of getting 100% healthy, but you can only make certain strides in real game situations. Practice does not cut it. We have severe issues with our down the field passing. Some of Dobb's decision making is still hit or miss. No, Dobbs needs every snap he can get to improve.

We need continual improvement. I would take a Dobb's at 80% health that has made more strides in 3 total games, than a Dobbs at 100% health who sat out an entire game and had just two weeks of practice instead.

Dear Lord.... THANK YOU!!
Our offense has looked like garbage and has played with zero consistency or rhythm or sense of direction yet you all are worried and talking about resting folks and giving the backup QB some time??:blink:
I'd expect the starters to play at least 2-1/2 solid and complete quarters of football Saturday before I'd even consider letting anyone rest. Starting with and most importantly Dobbs.
Who gives a rats a$$ what the score is? We need to see some solid play for a change and go into the Gators game with some momentum and at least with some confidence regarding execution.
Frankly that's the only thing that matters about the Ohio matchup.

The Vols need to work on passing in this game. Dobbs should be throwing the ball. I'll bet we do that--and as I recall we did that last year in game 3 or so--a non-conference game. We wanted to polish the passing game--and then we played Florida and didn't throw the ball at all! We should absolutely give the backup RBs some carries in this game, too.

Loser thinking. If Ohio comes within 20 of us then it will be time to officially panic.

App State is a much, much better team than Ohio.

Bump. Because, naturally, you were wrong on both accounts.

It is easy to be a "realist" with Butch Jones as coach. This is not even an 8 win team as it stands now. The OL is AWFUL, and defensive injuries are mounting.
