What advantage do our boys bring to the table tourney time over other teams? I say heart, intinsity, speed, indurance and great coaching.

Do you think coaching has anything to do with our early exit last year and early exit from this year's SEC tournament?

I hope they bring intensity and endurance but that's just me. :good!:

i think we cause problems with our press....we generally get teams to turn the ball over much more than they are accustomed to....it's almost like our oppenents are saying...."yeah, but they won't do that to us......" and then we do it to them too.

it's hard to prepare for, and at times it can negate a presumably big advantage for the oppenent whether it be a stron inside game, rebounding, etc....

then, our perimiter shooting......you never know who is going to step up. everyone knows about lofton, but Howell and Smith and even childress to a certain extent have added to that. Then Lofton is driving the lane....

bottom line, you don't know what really to expect with TN, o/t we are NOT going to pound you out inside. But we're going to take shots at you from every other point on the floor...it's a lot to defend.

what can beat it? obviously a good strong inside game...we got no answer for that. but if you're willing to run, we will be more than happy to oblige and see what happens....

UT brings the following to the tournament:

1) Lofton.
2) A sense that getting into the tournament is no longer enough.

The 3 pointer combined with up tempo pressing style makes us dangerous every night. Makes us inconsistent as well, but I suspect teams with suspect guard play hate teams like ours.

You're right - Ramar Smith, JuJuan Smith, Wayne Chism, and Duke Crews have nothing to do with UT's success.

That's not what I meant. In the sense that everyone contributes, UT also brings to the table Ned Herbmeller, the assistant to the assitant to the traveling secretary.

on point 2......i don't know that anyone really expects "great" things from this team. I do think most of us are still in the excitment mode of getting into the tourney and having realistic expectations of doing more than winning one game.

that said, i don't think anyone is saying that "just getting in isn't enough" at this point. it's still very much a work in progress. Right now we are probably on a level betwee 25-30 in relation to top programs in the country, and by no means do we consider ourselves an elite type team.

a lot of folks are talking elite 8/possible final four...but i think you'll find most of us are pretty rationale about our expectations at this point for the bball team. the past two years just getting in has been an accomplishment.

for me, i'd like to see us winning the East a little more, maybe the regular season at some point...and past Thursday in the SEC tourney somewhat consistently.

i do like our position in this bracket this year though, and do think sweet 16 is very realistic.
