What Did You Shell Out for Season Tickets?

I know I’m old but for my first game, we purchased two tickets for the face value of $22 per ticket and, I thought that was sky high! That was when I was in high school. Several years later in grad school, tickets were free but if you purchased an extra ticket, it was only $10.
Was this the mid to late 80’s? I’m thinking the first tickets I bought were $22

I paid roughly $1,100 for a pair in the lower south end zone - section M. Technically, they go to my uncle in his name - the retired professor. However, he gets another pair of his own in L for the same price.

1990 my friend. Can’t remember when the went up but I do remember the price of those for that game.

I had not experienced anything other than small town things. Therefore, a $22 ticket stood out because movie tickets were $4/$5 and I could take a girl out for a Saturday night for $20.

Some old stubs I have. $17 for 1990 is UTEP but that was a nonconference game and I remember SEC games were a few dollars more. Couldn't find an SEC game stub from 1990 but I'm sure I have one.

It's getting really hard to justify when we really only get 3-4 solid home games. You can get tickets to the cupcakes for nothing or next to nothing.
This season has a terrible home schedule. Early cupcakes are all hot afternoon games..Georgia is also afternoon. Zero night games unless they flex a couple SEC games. We need Arkansas and Oklahoma to have good seasons before they play us. The Alabama/Florida at home seasons have always been the most desirable but who knows if they change the SEC schedule. Our neutral site opening games have also taken away the value of season tickets, since we lose a possible home game.

I've heard theres 24,000 on waiting list. Is that # accurate?
Probably. What UT won't tell you, though, is that most of those won't buy them when their window opens up to purchase. Some don't like the available seats. The others get on here and fb groups and b*tch about how they can't afford them because they can't buy the UGA and OU games for $50. People will offer them ETSU and UTSA tix for $50 or less and they'll say "I dOn'T wAnT tO wAtCh ThOsE tEaMs!"

The Redskins used to say 60,000+ were on their season ticket waiting list 15-20 years ago. I signed up and was offered them the following year.

You have to consider the university is churning out something like 7000 graduates per year. Some of those former students are certainly interested in tickets and adding their name to the list.

Plus being on the list gets you an earlier chance to buy single game tickets than the general public so some may be on it for that reason.
