I had my family over for dinner tonight and we did rib eyes and NY strips, sweet potatoes, peppers and onions, roasted eggplant topped with fresh mozzarella and bruschetta, long hots and a sherbert watermelon roll for dessert.

What is "long hots"?
 
In NYC and i've had a few interesting things i recommend

Grilled cheese, duck, and pesto on rye

Raw Tasmanian sea trout

Bagel with lox
 
Ah! Never heard of them. Did you serve them like you would banana peppers? Or were they part of a dish?

I think they're more of a regional thing. The way I do them is I get a grill tin pan and put them in it. I mince up some garlic and add it then add olive oil and seasonings like salt pepper and onion powder. I put the pan on the grill and cook them. They are then served with a piece of sliced italian bread and sharp provolone or just by themselves. You can also slice them open and stuff them with prosciutto or whatever you want.

Tried two new recipes last night and they were good!

Chicken with pesto, marinara and fresh mozzarella cheese.

Summer vegetable medley.
