What did you have for dinner II?

Salisbury steak, baby carrots and mac and cheese, I go by food City often
on the way home and check and see what is at the deli and so tonight
this looked pretty good, and it really was.

Winn Dixie here in SWFL does a lot of take out and I do the same as you....cruze by n see what looks good. Amazingly, on weekends, they have an excellent Prime Rib!! But, by noonish it's usually sold out. Overall, prices are better than restaurants!!

Finally finished off leftovers. Made pickled carrots the other day. They need to sit in fridge at least 48 hrs to infuse. I've got a pork loin in my crockpot. Kroger had a decent sale: 8+ lb for $14 and change. I cut it in half and froze a chunk. Both new recipes to me. Will make smashed potatoes and open a couple of cans of Margaret Holmes collards to take around tomorrow. I'm toying w the idea of making a lemon meringue pie.

Need to post recipe for that pork loin !!!

You know there has to be back stories if we pretend to be chefs...Got a big pack of chops at Sam's for like $20. Not those enemic chops either. These things are thick and hefty. Got like 15 chops in the pack and at their size is like 5 meals for the 3 of us. Soo.....

Weather was ridiculous looking coming home from work. Sunflowers and corn having trouble staying upright, etc. Got chops rubbed down. Working on Fried Green Tomato and squash mixes while indoor grill heating up. Boom. Power went out. Ah crap! Sat there about 15 minutes waiting. Always been an outdoor person. Hunting, camping, fishing, shrimp and crawfish boils. Then it hit my 56 year old mind. Got a charcoal grill outside, and the rain has passed...Hit me again. Got a full propane tank and a big pot burner and a cast iron skillet. Invoking my days as a youth during winter storm outages when we cooked in the cast iron over the fireplace, I summoned the grill gods, and got the oil going in the skillet on the front porch with the big burner, and monitored from the rocking chair.

Now, wasn't that so much nicer than me just saying grilled chops with fried maters and squash.

P.S. Power came on about 2 hours later.

Nope. I'm just a household cook. That said, I do remember to quarter the mushrooms for beef bourguinon, lest the ghost of Julia Child haunt my dreams.

You get points for knowing only one of these 3:
-What it is
-How to spell
-How to pronounce
