In the game thread I see stupid comment after stupid comment. I mean seriously people, what did you expect? Our players havent had coaching in years. A whole new coaching staff. A first time HC. First time DC and OC. Brand new S&C coach. Oh yeah and a team that was one of the worst in the nation last year. Did you expect Pruitt to fix everything in one season? WV has a Hesiman QB and AA WRS. While we are trying to actually coach up DBs that have never had it.

Its justbas I expected. The VN stupidity has reared its usual head. One game in and already people saying coaches are trash blah, blah, blah.

Idk everyone here called WVMULE a troll and a moron bc he said they’d slaughter us. Looks like he was right although most here was predicting we’d win. But now that we are getting killed it’s “oh what’d you expect” I expected some noticeable improvement over last year and I’ve seen none. Playcalling has been lackluster and the DB play has been pathetic they don’t even turn around and look for the ball

The defense has been disappointing. We're going to have to get pressure with our front. Our DBs are taking a lot of heat and some of it is deserved, but Pruitt is having to leave them on an island to try to get pressure.

There have been some bright spots, too, like Tim Jordan.

Disappointing game, though.

It happens every year. People get their hopes up and emotions run high. Then reality sets in and UT sucks every year. A ton of people on the poll picked 8-4 this year and I just laughed.

I am in the same boat. I expected us to lose this game. But I have seen some very positive things that I like. We need to have patience. But sadly, it seems some fans just cannot do that.

This team will get better as the season goes on. This just was a terrible matchup for the first game.

I think people believe/believed that talent wasn't a problem. The only fix needed was coaching.

I still think a lot of people would argue Tennessee is more talented than West Virginia because of recruiting rankings. I don't think that's the case and I don't think most accept that.

Coaches are not problem it's players as I stated we cant chase down greerwith our dline....hes not that fast we don't have uga,bama,au type players.....oir offense is a big let down more disappointed about that than defense....when we blitz they are not fast enough to get there.....and our dbs while not atrocious are always step behind contesting the ball

I had this marked as a loss on the season predictions. Young secondary can’t keep up. At least we can run the ball a little.

Will be a feat to reach 6 wins with this squad though.

I expected to gain over 200 yards on the ground, to limit WV's possessions, and to win a close one.

I'm mad, and I'm disappointed at our line play.

With that being said, I also know my expectations were a tainted with big orange bias. I'm excited to see where this staff will take us.

Go Vols!

I expect the correct amount of people on the field. I expect basic fundamental things like tackling. That shouldn't be hard to teach when your head coach is a "defensive guy." I expect something resembling defensive effort. I expect the coach to understand momentum and not let those two game-turning run plays to be called, giving WV the ball and a score before halftime.

Notice I didn't say I expected a win? I picked Tennessee to lose. I had hoped for progress in the form of a well coached team.

I didn't get it.
