What did we just witness?

Is anyone else tired of hearing: "With the talent we have."? Maybe we don't have it. Receivers dropping balls. Balls not getting to receivers. OL not blocking. When's the last time we had a kicker?

Great point. Maybe from top to bottom this is simply not a very good team.

Take the old saying "stupid is as stupid does" and apply it here but tweak it a little. "if you are good you win games, if you are not you don't."

Man for man we are just another SEC team.

How can you blame the poor play of the OL and Dobbs on the coaches. Our offense can only blame themselves. The OL play has not changed all year and Dobbs had a miserable game. He will be the first to admit it. Coaches can not be blamed for the poor execution we witnessed tonight. It is all on the players. They flat out got out played. End of story.
Since when are the coaches not responsible for how their players perform?

Talent includes many attributes, one of which is the desire to learn and apply what you have learned on the field, and being disciplined enough to not make stupid mistakes.

I have defended this team all year and still believe we are in much better shape than in any time since Fulmer. What is concerning is we seem to be regressing vs. getting better as the season goes on offensively. It is my strong opinion that the problem with 120 is nearly completely on offense. Defense is already at a disadvantage given the fast tempo of our scheme. Time to grow up and run a real offense now.

A few things I noticed:

1. Dobbs worst game of the year (and that is saying a lot). No pressure but still throwing picks. At one point the announcer said USC thought third and long is where they could get turnovers then Dobbs proceeded to throw a pick. Missed a wide open Josh Smith (threw late) resulting in the last pick.

2. Receivers still having trouble getting open (and when they do Dobbs throws a terrible ball to limit gains). This indicates poor coaching because we have talented receivers. Whether its a position coaching problem or route structures being predictable USC should not have shut us down like that.

3. O-line was better but that isn't saying much against a defense that is average at best.Terrible execution on critical downs.

Bright spot was Berry and Kelly; these guys are legit and kept us in the game. Warrior had a few nice plays too.

Biggest problem I saw was the team seemed flat all night. We needed a leader and NO ONE seemed up to the task. That is on Coaches and Dobbs in particular. They were poorly prepared, lacked energy and made a very bad USC team look good.

The coaches are teachers. The players are students. If the players do not execute on the field then they are the ones if you want to have someone to blame. One is either physically or mentally unable to get the job done. The players say the same thing after every game, "we just did not execute". Eveyone always blame the coaches. Its the guys on the field that have to get the job done. 4 star recruits can sometimes be over rated and that is a fact. If you want to blame the coaches then fire them all because we are not executing at most positions. Get real you people.

An absolutely pathetic effort That is what I wasted 3 1/2 hours watching last night and, at the same time, the Cubs sucked up another one. Bad night.

Everyone healthy first game of the year and we sucked. Yes we have injuries but we still looked like crap when we didn't. DB's mediocre at best including Kelley who should be flying around as an outside linebacker.

You saw a team depleted by injuries. Expect to win with a lot of 3rd and 4th string players?

Against SC? Yes.

Against Missouri? Yes

Against Kentucky? Yes

Against Vandy? Yes

Yet I am now genuinely worried we could lose all of these.

If you are an upcoming opponent, you have to be licking your chops knowing our D cannot stop a pee wee football team.

By that reasoning, you can send your kids to the worst school system in the state and get pissed at them if they do not get a great score on the ACT.

But then why does everyone want to go to the best school systems with the best educational plans and teachers?

Losing that game was a major disaster for the program. Had a legitimate shot at the SECCG and a good bowl even if we lost. Now who knows.
