Why the hell did Jon Gruden give the Rocky Top shout out in his Seattle interview?

1. Was he flat out trolling?
2. Was he trying to promote his brand?
3. Was he reaching out to Tennessee???

Here is what we need to do:

1. Clean house starting with Currie and Davenport
2. Fulmer and Manning responsible for post-mortem reporting to Vol fan base
3. Fulmer and Manning responsible for search committee and search firm

Right now, my relationship with Tennessee is undergoing that process where you deciding whether your going to work through it or get a divorce. And I think the key to all the answers is the Gruden Seattle shout-out. If he was trolling he is dead to me. If he was reaching out to John Currie, I'm absolutely done with Tennessee football.

It sounds like he has some interest in UT, but he's not sold yet on becoming the next HC. The right AD might could sell him on it, but TN don't have the right AD.

He doesn’t want to coach college. Not really. Just likes the attention.

Please let the Gruden talk die.

Maybe it meant exactly what he said. There is not a hidden meaning behind everything someone says. He knew Brock was going to call the game and he made the statements which I think he truly believes. That's all. People try to make what is said fit their agenda instead of taking it for what it truly is. Just statements about his feelings for Tennessee.

Currie isn't going to make it known who he is interviewing, nor where that interview will take place. He could've been there looking at one of Washington's coordinators for all we know.

Stupid in many ways! Manning was an all-out endorser of Butch for the job. That's clear proof that he's probably not the most qualified person to advise on hiring.....in other words, I don't want him in on the process.

No, to Fulmer as well. His last 7 years were the precursor to our current situation. And then, you just don't use a guy to direct your hiring process for a job that he was fired

1. YES. Attention Whore
2. YES. All day, every day.
3. NO. Just like those girls in high school flirting with ANYBODY who flirts back.

The answer is: Use some common sense and stop looking for hidden meanings every time somebody opens their mouth.

This. And I still can't believe so many on here haven't figured out the selfish game he's been playing for a very long time.

He's a media guy and has been for almost a decade, not a football coach. The more people who have his name in their mouths the better off he is. He was never getting laid off from ESPN, he has this thing called a contract with ESPN through 2021. It's not like he is an on or off camera person on Sports Center which are the ones going to take the largest hit at ESPN.

Im starting to think the same thing. Glory Hound. He loves to be loved, wants to be wanted.

I want him here as much as anyone else and to see his staff stocked full of VFL’s. I just dont see it happening.

Jon Gruden is an attention seeking whore.

He will never publicly turn down a job. We all know this.

However the fault is with our AD. Currie should have squashed this day 1.

I think it should be clear by now that Gruden was never even offered the job or even approached. Hell, who knows if he would be interested or not. UT has never asked.

Fact is: we were/are in a tough spot.

We NEED A HOME RUN hire this hire or the party is over.

We all know this. Many of these foolish liberal types act like because America/Vols were always great...that’s just how it always is going to be...like a little child.

The truth is—-empires rise and fall and collapse. Ours is on the verge of collapsing. We need a home run tho
