What can Tennessee use to sell itself to a new coach?

Didn’t have to wait long...

Blame that on administration, not the program itself. Almost any coach would come here if our admin didn’t get in the way

Well, it seems to me that the administration is repeating that process.

Pretty easy... look at our past. Don’t matter what you do, we will make you a millionaire for 3 years. If you win 8 games in a year we will build a shrine to you...only to fire you after we think we might amount to anything other than dog crap.

UT has the facilities, the tradition, improved recruiting grounds to be a successful job.

Easily a Top 10 job.

The only thing that’s holding us back is our Administration that’s not willing to spend big bucks on proven HCs.

There's that stupid, false assertion again. How many times and by how many people does it need to be said? You do know that UT did go after and offer good money to big names before hiring Butch and they were turned down. Gruden, Gundy, strong just to name three. Or maybe you think there's no limit to what UT can pay? Maybe throw down $20 million per year and snag Saban?

It pains me to say this, but UT is not a top 10 program, probabably not even top 25.

Great facilities, great fanbase, great location. A national power? No. Not any more.

Tennessee is a perennial 8 win program. Remove Neyland’s record ... and not even that. I would say UT is on the same level as Ole Miss now.

Thank UTAD for its fine stewardship.

The biggest 8 win perennial team in college football history. The big nothing U.

Specifically, how did the admin get in the way? We tried with Gruden, Gundy and Strong. All said no thanks. You tossed this bs out so now back it up with details and specifics.

Oh and btw, in case you missed it, we have a lot of new faces in the admin. How about not lumping them in with the former crew. They've been on the job for less than a year. Maybe allow them the opportunity to actually do something like fire and hire before you pronounce them a failure and the core of the problems at UT?

We excel in running coaches off? It wouldn't surprise me if our next coach asked for a $20 Million buyout.

Actually, yes I am. I've watched when I can over the past several years but haven't Kelly up as well as I'd like.

Top 10 job regardless, if I were looking at whether or not to accept the job and deal with the Legions of the Miserable who look for some sign of failure from Day One, if like to know if the roster will allow a level of competitiveness right off the bat.

The answer is money. That's all the best coaches care about. The question is will we actually spend money on a coach.

The biggest 8 win perennial team in college football history. The big nothing U.

And a conference winning percentage less than 0.400 over the last ten years.

Other than Fulmer, UT hasn’t been relevant since integration. Sad. But true. Just look at the data.

NC State? Holy cow. No tradition at all. And look at where they are. They displaying Fire Butch signs at games.

That's partly due to the fact that we have hired two of the worst coaches in the history of the SEC. Maybe if we hire someone who is slightly better than drizzling poo that wouldn't be the case.

Sadly no one cares about tradition except the older folks. Kids and recruits today have never seen a good Tennessee team.

This is unfortunately true. The Vols have been the punching bag of the SEC for a while now.

Why are you a fan?

The amount of stupidity by people on this board who have zero reading comprehension at all is truly and utterly amazing.

UT shouldn’t have to hire a search firm to conduct a search. We have Phil Fulmer. We have Peyton Manning. We have Johnny Majors.

Make them your search committee.

Not some search firm that gets paid 6 figures that’s gonna recommend some former band member turned coach. The fact that UT has to hire a search firm just shows you how clueless our administration and Athletic Departmebt are.

Read people! Read!
