i was really impressed the way the vols closed the season and worked their way into the SECC game against what is imo the best team in the SEC and maybe the best team in the country.

i was astounded by the enthusiasm and overall play of the D yesterday. there was some serious hitting going on. perry-loos cut finger seemed to be having a negative effect on his passing and going into the 4th qtr with a one point lead it looked like we could key on the run, shut LSU down, and take it to the house.

so, backed up on our own 15 we are PASSING the ball against the #3 D in the NCAA? if they are scoring at will (like UF, bama, cal, and 2nd half KY) maybe we have to roll the dice just to keep their O off the field. but that is NOT what was happening.

play safe, punt if you have to, and let the D stick it to 'em.

if LSU had mounted a game winning 4th qtr drive against our tired D, so be it. if they had burned one of our DBs for the game winner, understandable.

but making a stupid unnecessary gamble and gagging the SECC? that is a tough one for me to take.

If they play it close to the vest and run the ball on 3rd down, they get ripped. If they open it up and make a mistake, they get ripped.

It's a shame we will never know how it would have turned out without the Pick Six. I was convinced that 14-13 would not hold up, and we needed to score.

Did anybody else get an eery feeling that something really bad was about to happen just before the Pick Six? I did. I shrugged it off, thinking it was the product of too many years spent in KY.

No one talking objectively would say that a 2 yard pass was a better call than a 2 yard run.

The 2 yarer there was the 3rd choice or so. The 2 inside receivers had inside position on slants.

It wasn't the decision to throw, it was the decision to throw a 2 yard pass that didn't have much chance of accomplishing any more than a run up the middle.

yes i had a bad feeling and said, "just don't turn it over" right before it happened. probably inspired by the pass on 2nd down.

maybe, maybe, play action on 1st down and take it deep -- MIGHT catch them asleep. if it is picked at least it is at midfield.

but man don't give them the short field, much less 6 points, at that time in the game and under those game circumstances.

On that throw, I was thinking how nice it would be if Ainge had the mobility to run for a first down

Then he let go with a dump pass across the middle that was intecepted

I did...I think Vern said something about how we hadn't had any turnovers immediately before Ainge threw that pass. Had nightmares about it last night.

Yes, and LSU fumbled right after he said they hadn't fumbled in X number of carries. That guy is a bad luck charm if I've ever seen one.

If Fullmer plays Fullmer football when we were up 14-13 we win!!! period. periloux could not throw anymore.

I feel the same way. I don't mind losing to a better opponent even in a heart breaker scenario, but I hate it when we shoot ourselves in the foot.

It was amazing that I do not think we had one penalty in this game, but we found other weapons at our disposal to shoot our foot off. Two poor decisions by Ainge and some dropped passes by our WRs did the trick.

Yes, and I couldn't shrugg it off. I just do not feel comfortable with EA's decision making. Remember, he almost cost us a chacne to play in the SECCG with that pick he threw against KY in OT. Only the blocked FG attempt save us then.

True. And that Creamsicle remark about our uniforms was totally unprofessional.

It would've been better to get beat straight up than to blow all those opportunities and then hand the go ahead score, while later throwing away any chance to comeback.

TN first touchdown they got away with one as it was almost picked. Either Ainge doesnt see the field 2 good or he doesnt have confidence in the WR, because he threw bad passes into coverage, dumped it off etc. alot this year and there will be someone open. I will agree some of the dump offs no one was open but he missed alot in big situations and prob the biggest was the pick 6 last night, as Austin looked pretty open to me across the middle for the first down. This was the worst, They Were Who We Thought They Were, and WE LET THEM OFF THE HOOK.

I was so mad when he threw that INT, I threw my binoculars on the ground, and they broke into 4 pieces---that's life.

I had the same feeling, when they lined up for the play I was overcome with the feeling that we were going to turn it over. Especially after that turd Vern calling the game jinxed us by saying we had 0 TO's and 0 Penalties. Thanks Vern Lundquist its all your fault!!
