What are your gameday traditions?

Wake up
Go to gym in all my UT gear (I live in GA, so all the UGA fans give me stares)
Come home and cook Gameday lunch (tuna pasta for the past 6 years)
Wear Orange Jersey #10 for Home games, White #16 for away
Arrange all TN memorabilia in house
Sit on couch and yell at TV with my wife (converted her 3 years ago, she's now as obsessed as I am)

Love this time of year! Cant wait!

If I make it to Knoxville for the game........... Bud Light

but if I have to stay in West TN...... Bud Light.

Here is the Football watching Tip of the Day:

If you'll go somewhere and have some fried pickles on game day, you don't have to pee as much and don't have to miss as much of the game in the bathroom.
The little wife appreciates this more than going in a cup on the couch or in the stands.

Other than being at the game and tailgating. When you cant be at the game what do you do before a game? What are some of the things you always do?
I have some things that I always do as sort of a good luck thing such as I always have a 2 litter of Orange crush on hand ( I dont drink beer). Starting at 7 am I play Rocky Top every hour. Start the bbq up and smoke a few ribs and other things. Then watch the game by myself, other than my dog who I have trained to howl whenever she hears the words touchdown Tennessee.

put out the UT flag
where Orange
watch the game
drink bourbon

and if it's an sec game, wife wears orange panties

I can think of several things I do: One would involves some ice cubes and a 9 iron. Two would involve a buffalo, live or stuffed...preferrably stuffed for safety sake. And 3 we switch that 9 iron back to a pitching wedge.

No seriously, before the first game of every season, I cook a fat ass T-bone steak, and keep the 'T' for good luck till we lose, which is usually the Florida game. By that time, the bone is pretty nasty. Other than that, I dress up in Orange Jersey's/polo's for home games, and white ones, for the road games. Of course I wake up and watch gameday, and prep the hot wings I make every Saturday.

that one is awesome. may have to steal that for when i have kids!

We'll share. Obviously this is for away games we dont go to. When we tailgate we do it exactly one hour before kick off and head to our seats. I envision doing this when I'm a grandpa. GO VOLS!!

If I can't be in Knoxville I usually start out the morning with Jack and Coke then switch to just Jack at Noon when it's respectable to do so. Right before kick-off I fill up a bucket with light bulbs in case things don't go well. It's an old VN tradition.

Wake up and immediately say "it's great to be a Tennessee Volunteer" then follow that up with "It's football time in Tennessee!"

Watch college gameday and other games. It always starts with the games on ESPN, which are always Big 10 pillow fights, then switch to any SEC game on at 12 30.
As the day goes on I get increasingly nervous and look at the clock every few minutes or so.
I start really stressing out at the 30 minute mark before the game starts. I walk around my house trying to kill time, maybe throw the football for a few minutes trying to get rid of stress.
At kickoff I go into a seperate room, all alone, and watch the game; usually standing up the enitire time.
It's what I live for!

Living in Indy, I only get to K'town for 1 game-Flags MUST be up before sunrise on game day, "Gameday All Day" via internet, beer and Sprite (shandy-you can drink it all day long), a few shots during the day. If it's Florida, we have a shot chart where certain things that happen during the game result in shots for everyone. Orange lights on in the basement, UT on the big screen, others relegated to one of the smaller 2 screens, Red Auerbach cigar after SEC wins, fireworks added this year for every victory. HELLO NEIGHBORS!!!!!!

Try again? Ok, I'll try to say this nice and slow. You have 8 different Rocky Top ringtones for your cell, and you think wearing a certain color jersey influences the outcome of a game. You, sir, are an absolute fool.

How was that?

Pretty awful considering the fact that you seem to have totally missed the point. Just stop trying dude, we all have gameday traditions. Do I think it influences the game? Not even slightly, but it's something I've been doing every gameday for years. You need to get over yourself.

My parents and siblings do not like sports so when I was younger I'd go over to my aunts house with 2 other aunts and uncles, grandparents, etc...
Would usually be about 20 family members there. Was a great atmosphere, looked forward to it every Saturday. The last three years because of work I've gotten to go only about 3 times. For the most part theyve stopped doing it , because now everyone is left for school or in bad health. So this year I've made a point to schedule off for gametime, plan on pounding beers and shooting liquor for every score and chasing with orange crush, should be a good season.

Back in the day we'd all go down the street a few blocks (we lived in the Fort) to where a house stood empty (or people were known to be away) and we'd park cars in their yard at five bucks a pop.

We called it 'guerilla parking'.

Then we'd take the cash and wait till five mins before kickoff and try to get tickets. If there were no tickets to be had, we'd head to Ocharley's, watch the game and spend our ill-gotten gains.

Was that wrong? :dance2:
