Since there are only a few months and one or two major releases left for this gen, which games did you enjoy the most? IMO:

1. Red Dead Redemption - I think this game is the pinnacle of open world in video games. It doesn't really have any flaws.
2. The Last of Us - Just an awesome experience. Beautiful character interactions and fitting gameplay.
3. Mass Effect 2 - All the ME games have their strong points but ME2 has my favorite story format and characters.
4. Fallout: New Vegas - I loved F3 but NV was truer to the Fallout formula. Not as much exploration but just more to do in terms of quests.
5. Skyrim - It's not perfect but the sheer breadth of things to do is astounding.
6. Uncharted 2 - Great set pieces and a great story. UC3 tried to do too much IMO at the expense of the characters and UC1 dragged at parts.
7. Portal 2 - Hilarious and downright fun game.
8. Bioshock - One of the games that helped change video game narratives for the better. Infinite is on the same level.
9. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - Improved upon AC2 in several ways.
10. Sleeping Dogs - One of the most underrated games from this gen.

I'll have to seriously lean towards BF4 and Red Dead Redemption. Forza 4 is great, it's amazing how far they've pushed the limits of this generations equipment.

For me it was Halo 3. While it wasn't quite up to the impossibly high standards of Halo 2 (IMO the greatest console shooter ever, and as close to perfection with regards to online play as we will ever see) it was still a GREAT game that was one of the last shooters before everything, Halo in particular, started getting dumbed down for the sake of attracting newer fans to these long running series. I'd probably be ashamed to know the ridiculous number of hours me and my friends logged on that game in 2007 and 2008.
