I hear talk of their speed, watched some film and they are fairly fast.

What about our defense against their offense? Are there areas where we have advantage/disadvantage?

What about our offense? I don't know much about their defense...

And special teams?

They have a very fast tempo offense that worries me. We have some good factors going in. The one defensive coordinator that knows how to stop Oregon is on our sideline and we have Neyland. They can ask Cal how bad it was. No way to prepare for that. But it's gonna be a tough game for us

The D will be prepared and slow the ducks down. The O won't make many mistakes and will put up 200 yards rushing. Simms will throw for 150+ with no picks. Vols win.

So how does the D prepare to slow them down?

How is their D? Is 200 yards rushing for us realistic? Again...I don't know much about their D, but I do know their O can run like hell

Wilcox.

With our stable, yes 200 yds is realistic imo

I'm mainly concerned with our rush defense and our passing game. Simms stares down his receivers too much and seemed to be behind them all night. I was hoping our defensive line would be more disruptive against Martin as well. It will be a tough fought game against Oregon

This game can go either way. Turnovers and special teams could possibly win it or lose it for either. Oregon is fast which concerns me, but I'm confident Wilcox's experience against them helps ut scheme for them. I hope the vol faithfull are there next week cheering strong. They will need any advantage they got.

I have not had my Kool-Aid today...so here are some thoughts.

Dealing with Oregon D will be a challenge for our O-line. I did not see a lot of dominance last night...no push. A lot of the big yds can on runs to the outside (sweeps). But up the gut...not sure I saw that working.

That is pretty much it....there were many positives last night, that should keep this one interesting. So...how real are the Ducks? That is key, if they went off on a very weak NM team, then they may not have learned a great deal about their weaknesses either.

1. Wilcox
2. Our apparently much improved open field tackling.

this was something i was impressed with as well. Our linebackers and secondary did an excellent job. Jacques Smith also made some great plays on the line...

From all accounts this is supposed to be the best D the Ducks have ever had...... which is not saying a lot since we have not really ever had a great D. The Ducks are not big but they are tall on the line, the linebackers and secondary are fast and we have depth there. The Ducks are usually really good at stopping the run but tend to give up a lot of yards through the air and big plays through the air. As far as the offense with a different QB and some new wrinkles in the offense with 2 great RB's (which will see the field a lot at the same time) it is going to be more difficult I believe for Wilcox to game plan, 2 years ago our 3rd string QB (at that time Masoli was knocked out of the game in the 1st quarter and we played with our 5th string QB) and last year we had an entirely new O-line, not to take anything away from Boise State but we had some issues, that said however this is not going to be an easy game by any means for the Ducks and will probably be much closer than many people expect and can go either way.

Wilcox who shut down Oregon last year with 150 total yards, 1/10 3rd down conversion, 6 first downs, and 8 points.
he'll stop the spread attack that Monte could ever dream of stopping.

Remember the Auburn game last year' I see them wearing us Down.....also field position will be a big factor

does our D this year compare to his last year?

Do you think that's possible though? I mean, our entire D is young...and we played a lot of guys yesterday with little drop off. Obviously Oregon is a higher caliber, but I really think we can keep guys fairly fresh.

you had a 5th sting QB?

Yeah, 4th string was Chris Harper a true freshman athlete who threw 3 passes 2 of which were picked..... he transferred to Kansas State where he is now a backup WR. And Darron Thomas who was supposed to redshirt but was thrown into that game in the 4th quarter and threw 3 TD passes and 210 yards is the QB now. The Ducks ran almost the whole game because they were so green at the QB position until the 4th quarter and they almost came back. I think it would have been an entirely different game had Masoli not been knocked out, last season however other than having an entirely new O-line was different and Boise State simply outplayed the Ducks which is something I could see happening again.
