Christopher Cross was working with a number of bands in Texas and compiling a portfolio of songs which those bands weren’t interested in performing. He admits to having a drug fueled time during this period. High, he drove to LA, where he luckily encountered people who introduced him to the producer who saw promise in his unused compositions. With the support of LA studio cats, he put out his first album, which the machinery of his producer pushed to the Grammy voters. He’s never repeated that success.
