42 years ago, Feb. 6, 1982, I attended Joan Armatrading’s concert at the Agora Ballroom in Atlanta. The lights came up on her performing her first song. When she finished, the roar of the crowd startled her. She was visibly taken aback. She quickly recovered, and responding to the affection of the audience, put on an exceptional show.
