That if the Georgia game goes really bad like I think (But hope it doesnt) it will that Dooley could be fired mid season? Would make better sense maybe in order to protect the current recruiting season. Just a thought from a fan.. Flame away!!!!

Id say alot of it depends on how angry hart gets if things go south. And i also think they would have to have a big name in place to protect recruiting although if things do go south i think the writing would be on the wall so it wouldnt much matter. Thats why kids should commit to a school not a coach with coaches being fired and leaving for other jobs all the time.

A mid-season firing would be catastrophic. If the season goes 3-9, there is little doubt he would be gone. 6-6 I think he's gone. 7-5 is debatable. 8-4 or better, he comes back with a contract extension. The bottom line is that Hart has common sense. According to the polls, UT lost to #11 and have #5, 1, and 6 coming up on the schedule. A big upset would be huge for the team and for Dooley. He must win the games he's expected to win. For some fans, that won't be enough. For Hart, I expect that it will be.

I don't agree with that. The last thing these players need is for coaching controversy to be going on. Even if we lose, we can still win more games. Possibly 7 or 8. However, if you fire him midseason, then these players will: 1. Consider the season a failure. 2. Not play hard for the interim coach because he will more than likely be gone after the year is done. 3. Completely lose interest.... As for recruiting purposes go, coaching changes in midseason do not help. If anything, it just causes more uncertainty because the players will not know who they will be playing for next season. Our recruiting is going pretty good as of now, you wouldn't want to screw it up.

I don't think it'd be midseason unless it's an absolute disaster. I can see an immediate firing after the season is complete(if warranted)

If you're gonna axe a coach midseason, you better have a big name ready to come in once the season is over. However, you are playing with fire if you can Dooley in October and bring a wanker like Kirby Smart in here - you're just cementing our doom for at least another decade.

I don't see Dooley getting fired this season. It would have to take some real, real extinuating circumstances before that would occur; much less, to be fired during the season.
(1) Hart wants us to build up our bank account and firing a coach and giving him a buy out will not help our financial situation.

(2) In 2008 & again in 2009, no top named, proven, Hall of Fame coach was even interested in the U.T. job, so why fire Dooley, just to replace him with another small college coach?
If we are doing bad with Dooley, why fire him, pay his buy out, lose recruits during the transition, and still have the 2013, 2014 & 2015 as 7 - 6 seasons, in which we are re builiding?

(3) The only way that Hart fires Dooley is (a) The Alumni pay for Dooley's buy out. (b) Hart already has
a coach committed to coming to U.T. and will begin the
day after Dooley is fired.
This way, the University will not pay for the buy out and there is not a search for a new coach that only yield's another small time un proven coach. Also, an immediate hire would mean that we likely don't lose the current committed recruits.
I don't see that scenerio happening, so we will have Dooley until his buy out is at a real cheap price. Maybe after the 2013 or 2014 season.

One thing people seem to not consider is this. If Dooley gets fired midseason or even end of season the chances of players leaving early for the draft go from possible to almost certain I find it hilarious how this whole thing is running like an almost direct parallel to the upcoming election. Guy gets put in impossible situation people want him to fail and want him out at any cost even if that cost is shooting themselves in the head.

Not a possibility...... He's not going anywhere, at least not until the season is over....

As others have said, firing CDD mid season would be an unmitigated disaster. After having some time to cool off after the Florida debacle i see that this team has a real shot at winning seven (and if we can catch a break) eight games this year. If that hapoens Dooley will most assuredly be back next season. I have been very harsh on this coaching staff but if they pull off eight wins I will gladly devour my share of the crow....

No way. If/When Dooley is let go, it will for sure be when the season is over. It wouldn't be Smart to get any coach from the state of Alabama but that's what will happen.

If that were to happen then they would have to get the right name mentioned as a possibility for head coach to put the recruits in a wait and see...Say they are negotiating with Gruden, all the recruits will wait and see if he is indeed hired or who else they might be pursuing...It doesn't always go to hell like the last time we hired a coach

Look i can do this too OP -

What if TN upsets #5 UGA in Athens and follows it up with a win at #23 Miss State?

TN would be 5-1 ranked in the top 20 going into the game with Bama in Knoxville.

Lets do what the coaches tell the player to do...take it one game at a time! "Fans" have complained that some of the players quit last week. I see a lot more of the fans quitting (and panicing) than the players!

I hope we win the rest of our games but i just dont see it in this team.. i dont see any heart! I hope that i am so wrong but if we can blasted by Georgia everyone knows that Miss state and SC and Ala are not winnable and other games as well. So give him the boot only if a big name is ready to take over and the players currently would love it and recruits would be drooling.. like i say i hope i am totally wrong and Dooley stays for a long time and wins but i just dont see it happening...
