That if JW leaves we hire our new DC on the very same day he quits?

Probably pretty slim. I don't think Dooley will rush to find one. Probably get one a few days after

kind of quick but possible. I would say before dead period over though. if playing in a bowl, might not announce until after that

Actually, you're one of the people I hoped would respond to this thread. The reason I ask is if CDD knows now he's leaving that would give him time. It would also make it look like losing JW was no big deal at all. Have the Presser the minute he leaves with the new coach announcement and make JW look like he's easily replaceable. Wasn't sure if some, like yourself, knew if anything was in the works.

My guess is that it would be shortly after (depending on the immediate availability of the DC). Dooley isn't stupid. He knows if Wilcox is gone or not. If he's gone, then I guarantee CDD is working the phones with the candidates on his short list and working something out or already has it worked out.

don't know for certain but I feel pretty strongly he has already placed some calls. I couldn't guess to whom, but bet he started calling Monday.

My sense is he knew Sunday night he was going to have to round someone up.

IF person is in a bowl, my guess is he lets them complete that prior to any announcements. Of ourse, that could happen on Sunday after our game... :)

Im sure the back channels will be working in this direction as well, if Dooley knows he has to make a move.

No different than Wilcox and Texas.

There aren't any games that Sunday. Are you referring to Kevin Steele since Clemson plays Friday morning, Manny Diaz since MSU plays Saturday morning, Everett Whithers since UNC obviously plays Thursday or maybe just Shannon because we are announcing the Sunday after our bowl?

no games, good day for an announcement.. candidates likely will be finished and likely Wilcox will be gone. :)

Sounds like he already has his guy, and the feedback has been positive?

To defend the OP timing is a good question however worded. Also there would be a slim chance if it's LT that it could happen heck he sees the man everyday.
