I realize the men will not make the field of 64, but what about the women's team. They are currently in 7th place in the SEC with a record of 12-7. 3 of the next 4 games are potential losses. Will the women's team make the NCAA's?

I think we'll make it even if we go 17 and 12 in the regular season. Were going to be a low seed but we'll have to go something like 15 and 14 not to make it.

As of today the odds are that neither team makes the tourney this year .....unless both win the SEC Tourney and what would you set the odds of that happening ?

At this point & based on the games I have seen, I regret that I have the least amount of confidence in the Lady Vols ability to win in any year in my memory. And that is thirty something years.

Some years, the overall talent of the players might have been slightly lower. But those past teams seemed to play with greater heart, discipline, and organization. This was a year I and many other fans hoped would be a year of great improvement. And they have gone in the opposite damn direction.

I say this not out of anger, nor for a wish for a coaching change, nor to criticize the players. I merely say it, because it is the God's honest truth. And I hurt for them. If they are selected for the tournament, they better fix whatever is broken quickly, or making the trip will be a complete waste.

Thanks for the responses. I realize that we are currently ranked in the Top 25, but it seems like we are playing less inspired basketball down the stretch and I wasn't sure about the tourney. When was the last time the women's team didn't make the tourney?

The Lady Vols have never missed the NCAA tourney since it started

I think there is a about a one in Keith Van Horn chance both teams don't make it. The odds are greatly increased (by a factor of Lou Boudreau) because the men aren't looking like a tourney team.

Before the season started for the Lady Vols, I had 5 losses marked down. After they lost their 4th game of the season to the Lady Gators I changed that to 8. They are currently 12-7. The game against the Lady Bulldogs looms BIG! They still have Arkiansas again who they lost to, Texas A&M, South Carolina (a definite loss), LSU and Georgia. A total disaster here and there is 12 losses before the SEC tourney in Jacksonville. I'd thought about going since I'm only 2.5 -3 hours south of there but will watch it on TV. I know they will not make it into the Quarterfinals. So, if they lose 12 before the SEC tourney and again in the tourney, that's 13 losses. Lady Vols may get an NIT bid. Men won't even get a bid with a .500 season. The Lady Vols may win 18, but not 20. Give them an 17-13 season. How long has it been since the Lady Vols hav not won 20 or more? Could this be Holly's last season?

Getting lucky in the S.E.C. tourney will be the only way to get there.
We will need to get some good draws in the tourney to play teams that we can realistically beat. In addition to that we will need other teams to upset teams that we can't beat.
For instance, we draw South Carolina in the tourney, then Ky. & LSU get upset by other teams, so that we can avoid playing them.
With us winning the S.E.C. Championship tourney, we will be an automatic bid.

As far as the women are concerned, we will likely be a 14th, 15th or 16th seed and will have to play a team that is hungry to get a win. If we don't bring our "A" game we will lose in the first round like we did against Ball State a few years ago.
My opinion is for Hart to start putting feelers out there to see if the top candidates on his "list" are interested in the job. If one is game to come here, then get rid of Holly, pay her buy out and start a new era at U.T.
Get a younger, but experienced coach with energy and with a hunger to win. Someone like USC's coach, in Dawn Staley. NOt saying she is the one though.
Do not get someones assistant. Just because you ate lunch with Gino and are his assistant doesn't mean you can turn U.T. around.

I understand we as fans are frustrated, but there's no way this teams misses the tournament unless they lose every remaining game on the schedule. The SOS (strength of schedule is #1 in the country) and their RPI is #12 in the country - incredibly high even with 7 losses. High in large part due to road wins over Oregon State and Missouri. At large bids are awarded based on RPI and SOS - and given the strength of the conference this year, neither of those are going to decline much even with losses. Win tonight and this team is essentially a lock for the NCAA's

If the Lady Vols have more than 10 losses, and get lucky and make the NCAA Tourney, they'll be no better than an 8th or 9th seed. That would mean playing a #7 or #10 seed team.

NCAA Tournament? Would any real Vol fan want to sit through the humiliation of what would happen? This team looks like an early out in the SEC tourney. The season will hopefully end there.

I set through the beatdown to Ball State. The worst LV game I've ever witnessed. This team has that same potential.

The LVs will have more than 10 losses-- 12 is entirely possible, especially if they can't get past a Bama team that's playing to win.

Depending on how the rest of the season plays out, the LV's will be somewhere between a 5 and 9 seed. A lower seed would be impossible because those spots are filled by the non-power five conference champs and sometimes one or two non-power five teams that dominate their league but then lose in their conference tourney.

I have to admit that I don't follow the Lady Vols like I did when CPS was coach. I do know that CHW has recruited pretty good but not at the level of CPS. Although there are seven McDonald All-Americans on the current roster. The Lady Vols have severely underachieved this season. My question for those that follow closely is: How would this team currently stand if CPS was still coaching?
