What are the battles for starting spots you're most looking forward to seeing?

The secondary will be very interesting. Good players back there competing to get on the field.

The entire defense will be interesting. I think the offense is pretty much settled now.

he will start from day 1 at one wideout with hunter. d rodgers is the slot , till he gets in trouble.

I am not saying you are wrong but why would CP not go to the slot instead of DR? I have seen this posted before so it not just you. Both create mismatches on safeties but DR can really get physical with corners on the outside.

I think him getting physical is exactly why CP will be in the slot instead. Put the physical guys on the outside to run fades and slants and block on bubble routes, and put your speedy guys (a.k.a. guys who average 40 yrds a kick return) in the slot to run bubbles, jets, options, and seam reads.

But it could go either way, I think they are a lot alike.

I think it's because of his physicality that he can really shine in the slot by exploiting mismatches with safeties and the occasional nickel CB. Also, the slot receivers usually find themselves over the middle and potentially left out to dry. DR can take a hit. With all 3 on the field, you can't double team any of them. Someone's going to be open.

I think Alan Carson will step up his game in Spring in the 3-4. Tailback position is wide open this year and it will be fun to watch under Jay Graham. Hopefully Greg King will be healthy and Nigel Mitchell Thornton. We need those guys to step up in a big way for depth. Last thing is how will J Smith respond as a Linebacker in 3-4.

This. I would love it if by the end of the season we were done playing musical defensive backs. Its impossible to keep those guys straight.

Eric Gordon, not used correctly last year IMO, I think he starts this year

He plays great at the nickel. Probably his nitch next season. Don't think he's a great man on man cb when out on an island, but a solid nickel back

The most exciting thing to look forward to is that there will be no 3rd and Sal like there was with Chavis and Wilcox. There will be a lot more pressing at the line of scrimmage then we are used to which will be wonderful.

DR drops to many deep balls

Maybe it's like the Coor's light commercial from the early 2000's, and the problem isn't that DR dropped the ball, it is that his other 11 teammates didn't catch it before it hit the ground.

I agree with the D Young/Pig Howard battle for punt returns. Considering how beasty Young looked last year, if Howard can actually come in and beat him out, there's no telling how many returns for TDs we'll have.

I think lots of competition will be available for most spots. I am doing this from memory so give me some slack if I mess up.

3rd reciever spot will be fun to see. Good incoming talent all around with that group.

RB will be interesting. If Lane and Smith are healthy plus the new guys coming in coupled with a new RB coach that will be a good battle there.

Didn't we redshirt a couple of lineman?

DB will be an upgrade no matter who gets the spot due to increased compitition.

I think QB play will get better too. Worley has another year. I hear Peterman is the real deal. Bray has an amazing arm and nerves of steel, but I don't think he reads the defense like he should. He can't do check downs effeciantly either. IF he learns to do this, he will never have to worry about competition. I am certain Bray will start, but if those other guys can push him the team will benifit.

I think with the upgrade in the D line our offensive line will get better. If you have to practice against quality players you will play better on Saturday

Im hoping for Palardy's sake, that his starting spot, is to aim at the uprights and not at the snapers plumbers crack.

We finally get a guy from Knoxville who can play and you're already trying to ship his job out to a Floridian. It's a tragedy.

You're right. I completely voiced my disdain with Young right there. You can totally see the venom in that post. Seriously.

How do you pull that **** out of my post?

We play in the SEC...doubt there will be that many TD's but hopefully we increase in average per return!

I think everything is up for grabs with the RS entering the picture along with this class...

I would love to see every position starter pushed....period...It can only make this team better.....I don't see a single position with the except of QB that cannot be pushed to a degree...

I would like to see QB pushed....We have several players that need to be reeled in because of the heads their bodies are supporting....
Would it not be nice to see a rotation on the defensive front.....I mean we stuck the defense same defense out there for the entire game....Rotations will make all the difference.....

Depth we are almost there.....will get better....this team is being built...well

I agree, I think that Bray and Darick are great players that will be playing on Sunday's. They do appear kinda cocky sometimes though. Patterson and Peterman should provide good competition to help keep them grounded.

Miller, Couch, Sentimore, and Walls will all be battling for time at DE in our 3-4 look. The Dline depth this year is going exciting.

Competition is always a great thing, can't help but get excited. Would love to see Miller have a big year. You are right though, the defensive line depth will be nice to have for once.

Surprised nobody thinks Peterman/Worley will be a good battle for backup QB. Whoever it is, they're only a 5 yard out into a UGA helmet from starting
