Could be QB, but I've got to go with OL.

I am grateful we picked up Raulerson, Thomas and Blair all as EE's this year. I think Mosley would be good at OL, but I think he will end up as a DT for us. And losing Orlando Brown definitely hurt us (although I completely understand what happened).

Still, I think we need more at OL. If we can land Chuma Edoga and Drew Richmond to go with Zach Stewart and Jack Jones that will be huge, but even then I'd like to have maybe one more.

What say you guys?

i would say 3-5 OL 1-2 QB 3-4 DL 2 CB 1-2 TE and then any other elite players we can get at LB/WR/RB etc. oh and dews and the longsnapper

It is definitely OL and QB. I honestly don't even think there is a reason to rank the two. We have to fill a huge need at both.

I am honestly not worried about the OL situation at all. We lead for Edoga and Richmond, are in very good shape with Austin Clark, and are in the top group for St.Louis and S. Johnson. Dylan Jackson is most likely an OL in college as well.

If we somehow blow this OL class, Mahoney will be the first coach to be dismissed from this staff.

DE would probably be the #3 need.

I think we are in a position to have a very good O-line class. If we take five:

If I were to guess what is being said in the War Room or who is where on the "big board", I would say:

Jones and Zach are in the house, next in order of who they want:

1) Richmond
2) Austin
3) Edoga

With Harrel and St Louis as next in line.

I see some pretty good Tenn boys, but I do not think they will crack the top seven. JMO

Not to be a pain, but don't we have like 4-5 threads about this? Maybe merge if we do?

QB will be one of the biggest needs of this class, obviously. We can take two. If we are actually recruiting Juan Jennings and the other TN kid for QB, then I'd guess the coaches' early thought-process is to take two this class.

Offensive line is probably the biggest area of need for the class. We need to take at least 4, but probably 5 - hopefully a JUCO name opens up later in the game. We've got two already in Jack Jones and Zach Stewart, plus some see TE/DE commit Dylan Jackson as a possible OL prospect. Then there is Jashon Robertson and Charles Mosely who (debate all you like) who some project on the OL - and I imagine the number we take is dependent on where those guys land in the fall, as well.

Defensive Line will be a huge reload and is one our biggest needs, again. DT is the next big area of need as noted above with J. Robertson and C. Mosely those guys could end up on either side of the line, so this puts the number in flux until fall ball rolls around. There is also D. Barnett who some feel is big enough to move up and play in the interior. If D. Barnett or D. Mixon move up to play the interior (which is a longshot, but still a possibility), that would leave us with Henderson, Hendrix, & J. Williams at the end position - not ideal. I'm not sure how many we take, but I imagine another big reload with 6-7 on the DL.

Exact numbers by position will depend on the total we can take. But I agree with everything being said. OL will always be one of the most important areas of need. I see us taking a minimum of 5 OL, maybe even 6. DT is also a major need. We need big, bad DTs that were born to the position. Settle and Tuttle are must gets. It will be difficult to land both, and I'm sure CBJ has several backup options working. Without a question, QB will be critical. We are aggressively recruiting the top QBs that fit the style of offense CBJ wants to run. LBs will be important, and we will be very selective in who we sign. I expect all the remaining positions will be addressed with the appropriate numbers to build for the future. Finally we will be a position redshirt quality recruits to allow them to grow and develop.

Needs won't be known until we see how these young players progress. You will have some surprises on both directions. Some better and some worse.

I know people keep saying O-line, but the starting 5 is pretty well set for the next two years. Crowder, Wiesman, Blair, Jackson, Kerbyson. Definately need to build some depth, but I don't see needing to sign more than three if the quality is good. And, until we see where Mosley and Robertson project.

The staff ought to have a good idea on whether Kendrick, Sanders, Thomas and Raulerson project to play SEC level ball by the Fall.

You think we need DBs more than QB and DL?

Actually. I agree with you. Fergie redshirted last year. Will not be surprised if Dobbs redshirts a year. My opinion.....would love to get a QB this year, but don't think they are as big a need as OL and DL.

Has this ever happened? A QB playing as a freshman then red shirting after without an injury? Not saying it won't just curious if there is an example somewhere.

CBJ has said he wants a certain amount (quota) of players at each position.

Drew Richmond
Kahlil McKenzie
Kyle Philips

I can't think of a case off the top of my head, but am sure it is possible. I know CBJ really wanted to redshirt Dobbs last year, to give him an extra year to develope, but of course injuries changed that plan. Another year of developement would do wonders for Dobbs IMO.
