What I'm sold on is pulling off the band aid as quickly as possible. There are other coaches who could have success but Freeze has experience in conference. He's a big winner everywhere he's been. Shown to be innovative and would seem to fit in. Yes he has baggage, and it would need to be addressed. But like I said, we can keep Pruitt for another year, save a little short term cash and set new losing records and continue the perpetual backslide.

He’s an average to slightly below average coach in conference. I’m not sure how this guy got puffed up to savior status. He wouldn’t be anywhere close to my Top 5.

5 years ago I would’ve said Gary Patterson. Now unless you have an actual home run hire (stoops, Meyer, Gruden, etc) anyone you pick is a risky 50/50 type hire

Gary Patterson could have coached here but was told to kick rocks because Hamilton had Kiffin wrapped up.

Stoops and Meyer would be a splash hire but I don’t think they want to take on a big job again. (Hope I’m wrong)

Matt Campbell and Luke Fickell would be great hires as well.

Freeze would take the job immediately if offered to him. He knows what kind of offense it takes to win at this level.

I’d prefer we stay away from Bama coordinators. It’s easy to look good when your roster is better than 95% of other teams and your backups are better than starters on the other teams
