What about this....

Did I mention 2 NC's?

Who cares how he does it.... he gets it done.

But, how he does it is very 'Californian' and he does own an incredible recruiting base. He may have the only monopoly better than Florida's. At UT, somehow, the HC has to reach outside the state to get that kind of talent.

He's a great coach. He just fits perfectly at USC.

and you don't think having Pete Carroll at UT would help draw Southern Cali talent here?

Nope. I think he'd draw a whole lot of highly talented ballplayers from around the country with extraordinary disciplinary problems.

He's good where he is, but some of this stuff just doens't transfer as well.

We got a couple of Clausens anyways.

He does what he has to do to win football games.

Not to mention this will be his 6th straight BCS appearance.

Recruiting is easier out there, I'll give you that but you have to develop talent or it's just that. He must do something else besides just spend time coaxing the next Reggie Bush. Im not saying I would or wouldnt like him as a UT coach... Im just saying he is in fact a very good college coach.

BIG NEWS EVERYBODY!!!

I heard that Pete Carroll recently bought a chalet in Gatlinburg.

I also know someone who saw him playing air hockey in the space needle's arcade with Patrick Turner (who is also transferring to UT). :)

Agree. My concern is only with transferability. I don't mean to take anything away from what he's accomplished.

But, just for argument's sake, how many of those seasons could UT have run the table against those Pac 10 teams? The Pac 10 went without fielding defenses for a while. That's what USC did first in the conference to turn things around. They're better now because of USC's success, but for a while there, it wasn't such a premier conference.

Dont worry... Im sure he'll keep Phil on staff as the designated a$$ slapper after INT's & fumbles.

i considered making a post stating that since the Smokies are God's country, Jesus wouldn't have a hard time finding somewhere to live, but up until this point had decided against it.

No really, I would be curious to see what kind of offense Jesus would run.

Well, considering Jesus recently won the heistman at florida, I would assume he'd continue running the spread option. But I don't think the gators would let him come to Tennessee.

and of course we'd need our designated chest bumper too

Wonder if Troop started doing that to get people's eyes in the right place. Watch the cheerleaders after these big plays guys... they're a lot more exciting, don't you think?

Yea.. I think that has a whole different meaning for Pete.

He's a defense minded coach. Who knows how his style transfers here or anywhere else in the SEC. One thing is for sure... without the success USC has had the last 6 years, the PAC-10 is just another side note in the BCS schedule.

For arguments sake... 4 times (just throwing that out there... flame away!!!) ... lol... who knows that either? Too many what-ifs... Im getting a headache thinking about it.

Come on now, Cov. What r u watching during these games?

Dont tell me you've never seen CPF slap a Clausen or an Ainge on his fanny after he throws one of those WTFAREYOUTHINKING picks. You know... like say Roethlesberger throws an errant pass into trip coverage and he runs straight to the bench to get his Bill Cower Spitshield before getting chewed out.

It wouldn't hurt to have someone doing that on our sidelines sometimes. We need a good cop, bad cop deal, but all we've got are the good cops going now.

That where I argue that CPF's style requires excellent player leaders--who kick butts and take names. They have to police their own ranks or we just don't get it done as well.

But, Pete Caroll is not the guy to solve that problem. Like I said earlier, he's way too cool for that.

FOr what it's worth, Bill Cower... transfers a lot better, IMO.

Seeing it and admitting it here in front of God and country are two different things.
