What about this....

ties? who cares about ties to a program. They may help get you somewhere, but it's not like they are the only thing that matters. Ties are so important that Stoops is at OU and not Iowa. Also I'm not aware of any ties that Carroll previously had with USC, other than being born in Northern California.

Who was the last HC at UT without ties to UT?

He's not leaving, but even if he did, I think he's too much of a 'cool dude' for UT.

Maybe Jesus Christ would take the job, for a few million? I mean, let's go all out here. He could be UT's personal savior.

Yeah! and maybe you're an idiot and should shut your mouth.... I was just wondering, ok. You don't have to bash me for it. Geez

saying the dynasty was on the verge of ending was definitely wording it wrong. Again, why would he leave USC? he's a long way from getting fired from that place.

Tell you what though. Let's add more fuel to the fire. OU could be starting to decline as well. Let's hire Carroll to run the offense and Stoops to run the D and let them split head coaching duties. I'd be game for that. And while we're at it, VT is on a decline, so let's bring in Beamer just for special teams. We'd be unbeatable.

What no Belichick? The Pats had a close gave against the Ravens a week ago, shouldn't his job be in jeopardy making him another available candidate. And, there was a rumor that he has watched a UT game.

I'm sure we could find a spot for Belichick. There's all kinds of places in Neyland that we could hide cameras.

the benchmark for hiring coaches is not UT. Can you imagine Carroll coaching at Pacific because of his ties there?

Pacific and UT are not even in the same galaxy of competition... bad analogy. But I see your point. Im just saying it would be nice since the last 2 stayed so long.

Cov, are you saying it would be nice to get another with ties to the program? or it would be nice to get one from outside? I'm definitely game for going outside the program. Whenever Hamilton finally gets to replace Fulmer, I don't think he will put much stock into who has ties to the program. He will simply look for the best replacement he can get. If he has ties, so be it. If he doesn't, let's see some serious changes.

Ultimately.... I want what everyone else wants... to win games. Whether the HC come from UT or not. It would be that much sweeter if they were Vols though.

Carroll is overrated, he can recruit, but he cant motivate & he is too soft on his players
