what do you guys think about this. With USC west losing to Stanford this year and their 'dynasty' seemingly at the verge of ending, what do yall think about Pete Carroll taking over for CPF as the next head coach of Tennessee? God knows i would love to see this happen..

Thoughts? Could it ever happen??

wow.. one loss to stanford and USC is suddenly crumbling. I dare you to find one team right now that wants to face USC. OU, tOSU and UGA wouldn't have a chance right now. If LSU gets their defense healthy, they might could make a game of it, but I doubt it.

I'm not saying they are crumbling. I'm saying, that dynasty where they are in the natl title game EVERY year isn't happening anymore. Just because you believe the hype of them being so amazing doesn't mean other people have to. John David Booty is a joke. and besides, a loss to Stanford is REALLY REALLY BAD. I mean how many games did Stanford end up winning this year? Exactly.....

stanford won 4 games. included in that list is a win over Cal. If you don't think Jim Harbaugh finally has that program headed in the right direction, you don't know anything about football.

And, USC was just outside the hunt of a National Championship game and are still getting a BCS bowl. not too shabby if you ask me.

Ok ok the point wasn't that USC is a terrible team now. I was just saying if USC starts on a declining trend in the next few years would/could pete carroll ever come to UT? that's all i was asking. I must have worded it wrong or something

on a side note: a win over cal at the end of the season is laughable. I realize they beat us, but at the end of the year vandy could have beat them...

The wording is fine, the question is wrong. No, he will never, ever, come to UT. Ever.

saying the dynasty was on the verge of ending was definitely wording it wrong. Again, why would he leave USC? he's a long way from getting fired from that place.

Tell you what though. Let's add more fuel to the fire. OU could be starting to decline as well. Let's hire Carroll to run the offense and Stoops to run the D and let them split head coaching duties. I'd be game for that. And while we're at it, VT is on a decline, so let's bring in Beamer just for special teams. We'd be unbeatable.

ties? who cares about ties to a program. They may help get you somewhere, but it's not like they are the only thing that matters. Ties are so important that Stoops is at OU and not Iowa. Also I'm not aware of any ties that Carroll previously had with USC, other than being born in Northern California.

Honestly, he owns California recruiting, a lot larger base than the state of Tennessee and he owns the Pac-10.

Why come?

because the SEC is the best conference in the nation and has the best coaches. because he wants a new challenge. money. etc etc etc. but whatever it doesn't matter. you guys don't care. just forget it

That would be great! Think those guys would all go for it? I mean, we are UT
