If we can't bring on Gruden, I want Spurrier. Can I get a harumph?
the long haul in college football has now been compressed to about 10 years. Much longer, coaches are spent and fans ready for the new, IMO. Extended years of dominance is a thing of the past with the parity that exists today and I just can't imagine a coach making it work for much longer than that.It seems like the majority of people on this board want Spurrier as the new HC and at the same time people want some "new" and "young" blood to take over the program(as do I).
I'm assuming people want "new" and "young" blood because they want somebody to be here for the long haul (assuming whoever it is would be successful) which doesn't seem like something Spurrier would be interested in because if I'm not mistaken, he's older than Fulmer. Spurrier, to me, would seem to be like the JuCo equivalent for a HC and not a long term fix.
Maybe I'm alone on this but I wouldn't want Spurrier to coach at UT, not because of who he is but because of his longevity issues(unless he plans on coaching into his 70's or 80's).
