What about Rick Insell taking over?

Best to let her finish out the season IMO. Let her own the mess fully. Plus, no possibility of ANOTHER emotion based hire if an interim pulled off a dramatic improvement.
It's time for the BEST hire possible w/o the stupid "loyalty confusion" of last time. It's been 7 years. Hire the best, period.

Best to let her go now. No one will blame whoever takes over during the interim, the mess as it stands speaks for itself, to for anyone tasked with finishing the nightmare. "Doing it now" will give time to talk with and plan what will be expected from the replacement. It will give whoever is out there time to plan and think. "Doing it now" would be to everyone's benefit. Even Holly's.

I could agree with this except in one case. We need to make certain that the NCAAT is out of reach before getting an interim. Stranger things have happened. But, if somehow they knocked off a high seed with the interim and made a run to the EE or FF, then you'd have an emotion based WVU FB type situation on our hands. The fanbase and AD could get gridlocked on letting the "phenomenal overachieving" interim go. We could have idiotic emotional hire v2.0 on our hands.

Also, they can take plenty of temperatures on the coaching market BEFORE firing her IMO. If Phil doesn't have surrogates gauging that already, I'd be shocked and disappointed honestly. Nevertheless, if they cut bait wit CHW now, I couldn't blame them. Don't think they'll do that to a long term VFL, friend of Phil, and it would mean Phil doing what was done to him.

Holly needs to be fired. She needs to take responsibility for the way the team is playing. Stop blaming everyone and look in the mirrow for the problem.

This worked out well for Baylor football. Jim Grobe was hired as a one year interim to replace Art Briles and allowed our AD time to find a suitable full time replacement (Grobe actually smoked a very good Boise squad in our bowl game). AD Rhoades selected Matt Rhule early enough that Rhule was able to hit the recruiting trail and bring in a solid recruiting class...much better class than any of the experts predicted. By season two of the Matt Rhule Experiment he had us Bowling again (beat Vandy).

Time to kick Holly to the curb (thank her for her service) and take your chances. Many/most of the top choices attend the Final Four with resumes in hand. Although it would be much better to have a new hire in place before the FF.

The person that Tenn would want to get is not going to leave their own coaching job in mid-season. They would not announce their intention to change jobs or even be willing to interview,
