This game was one of the best I've seen in a long time, for many reasons.
SO MANY people contributed, on both sides of the ball for this win. Stocker had several big plays, obviously his TD, but also the long reception on 3rd and long (over 10 yards) to keep the drive alive. Stocker later fumbled, but his teammates, on both sides of the ball, saw to it that it didn't matter. The HARDESTy running back in the NCAA had one hell of a game, and the wide receivers left their butter-fingers and brick-hands at home. Gerald Jones had several HUGE receptions, especially the one on 2nd and 17, right before the HARDESTy game-winning TD. Crompton shook off his first quarter pick-6 and played at a high level, completing some VERY hard passes when it looked like the receivers were covered. The defense really stepped their game up on the 2nd half (no doubt because of some halftime adjustments made by the master), and stood strong to keep the Wildcats out of the endzone after Stockers fumble. Janzen Jackson's sack was huge, but he also played great defense all game long. We really missed him the last two weeks. He's going to be an absolute BALLER these next 2, hopefully 3 years. Eric Berry and Rico McCoy had some HUGE tackles, and EB's tackle for a loss of 7 in OT was the difference in that missed FG. Devin Mathis made a 37 yard FG, which certainly isn't a "gimme", especially considering the pressure and intensity of the game. Without that FG, TN loses. HARDESTy will probably be the MVP, but I would really like to see the entire starting 22 to get recognized for this win. I haven't seen a complete TEAM effort like this in a looong time. GO VOLS!!!!
I can't wait for the Bowl Game, and especially next year. If only Crompton/Hardesty, Erpic Berry were all Freshmen. Either way, the future for Volnation is as bright as ever!!!
