From listening to the post game show, it appears CRB has really gotten under Kessling’s skin. Has something happened in the past between them? It was really awkward sounding.

I think Barnes is a great guy, but he's also a no nonsense kind of guy. I didn't hear last night's exchange. I have heard Barnes answer his smart aleck questions with smart aleck answers. Barnes kinda takes subtle jabs, or kind of pokes fun at him and Bert. Sometimes Barnes answers their questions with a question of his own. I think it's all in good fun, but it sometimes comes across as snarky and jackass like. I, for one, think its funny. Because, I know Bob HAS to get under Barnes' skin. Heck, he gets under ours'. I also know that off air Bob is not the nicest guy in the room. Especially with how he treats his "underlings"......

Those 2 love each other, they hit up Long’s and Pete’s together at lease once or twice a week, Bob always attends and donates to anything Rick puts together…they both poke at each other but on air Bob is a bit more handcuffed than Rick, if it comes through as if they don’t get along then it’s probably just how it translates to radio cause the 2 are good friends.

The way it sounded on the radio was Barnes was giving Kesling a toupe for his Christmas present during the post game interview, in front of fans. Kesling was definitely uncomfortable, at one point saying something about it being “nonsense.”

You know when Barnes calls him “Bobby” there’s about to be some shenanigans afoot. Bob didn’t try on the toupee that Barnes gave him last night.

Saw and heard him one time some years back (before the master left the press box) and I came away with the same impression you seem to have.

I had an encounter with Bob years ago after a game at the entrance of the locker room, there were so many people there as he was trying to walk through. I was trying to be nice and ask people to move so that he could enter as I knew was on a time schedule to conduct post-game interviews with CPF and players. While I was asking people to clear a path for Bob, he never looked over or said thank you or kiss my arse, he just pushed through never acknowledging any one. People were wanting to shake his hand, calling out his name for simple recognition, etc. He just barreled through without as much as a nod . . . to me, he came off as a prick.

Conversely, I had the great honor of meeting the great John Ward, he was warm, charming and personable!! Dang, I miss the legend!!

I’ll never forget Kesling being a douche-canoe after TN beat Vandy and the crowd was booing Baldy when he came out to do his post game radio show. Kesling grabbed the mic to the PA and scolds the crowd telling them to show some class. Uh, no Bobby. That’s not how it works. Stallings was being a d*** in that game - he had it coming.

He doesnt "come off as a prick".....he is one.

Bumbling Bob has a mindset like he's a celebrity and is on a higher social plain than the fans. He's not.

Bob lost me several years ago at TBA when the fans were razzing Bald Kevin during their radio show after Tennessee upset the Doors and Bob felt compelled to take to the PA to call out the crowd and commanding the fans "to show some class", not his role, particularly as incompetent as he is,

Dickey always if you were too cheap to buy a ticket, Kessling's broadcast was all you deserved,

Barnes knows the Vol Network is worthless, Kessling is awful and the Vol fans and the basketball program deserve better,

You used to see radios and headsets throughout Neyland, Stokely and TBA on gameday, but you'd have a hard time finding one now

Well, it is 2021 and every phone has a radio and headphones instead of a headset. But yeah, Bob sucks

No animosity, just playful banter.

Apparently many haven't watched or listened to them together over the years. They joke like that all the time. They had a particularly funny week when we played Lenoir-Rhyne and Kessling kept making up different nicknames that Barnes supposedly had there and also had a bunch of fake negative stats for Coach Barnes as player. Things like most missed layups, most dribbles off his foot with under two minutes to go etc.

Also met Bob many times and he's always been very nice. I always think people know of certain people and feel like they actually know them. Then can't figure out why the other person doesn't treat them like a 20 year neighbor if they see them in a store or restaurant. You're a complete stranger to them.

Folks would still be listening if we had someone that could keep up with the game. If Ward was alive and came back 98 percent would turn down the TV volume. Mike Keith might be ready for the change. That was supposed to be the man in waiting to begin with. GBO!!!!
