What’s the logic

Its absolutely a stupid narrative. Wanna know why? Because no situations are exactly the same. The program was left in worse shape than what Dooley left. Dooley left Butch an NFL OL. Yes he had the disasterous 2012 OL debacle. But please tell me, did Dooley go 4-8? Did he go almost 2 years with ZERO strength and conditioning? No. You people who who cannot see how badly Butch sabotaged this program should have MRIs and psychiatric evaluations immediately.

Dooley didn't even sign any OL at one point. He'd pissed off every high school coach in the region, Butch had to rebuild those relationships. The team would never have remotely sniffed 9 wins with Dooley. He was a walking disaster and is the worst coach in UT history, bar none. Much worse than Butch and Butch was pretty bad himself. TLDR; Butch was awful, Dooley was worse and by a good margin.

Many proclaimed Pruitt a "great coach" prior to him ever coaching a game. Tennessee football is so irrelevent that coach worship is really the only hope we have for brighter days ahead.
Nothing indicates that the UT admin is committed to building a winning program. So we can only hope to get lucky and find that diamond in the rough coach that pulls us out, or have prefect timing for a coach like we did with Rick Barnes.
I think the jury is still out on pruitt honestly. I thought the game against auburn was very good coaching, the game against Vanderbilt was abysmal. Good coach/terrible coach hell I think it's too early to say either way. I think he's a young HC in an incredibly tough conference, he will adapt or fail.

Again, which coach went 4-8? Which one had zero strength and conditioning? Lets be real, the only reason we even sniffed 9 wins twice was because of 2 guys, Dobbs and Barnett. Botch gets credit for both. But, like I said Dooley left Butch with talent. They were not weak, undersized lazy players that were champions of life. Dooley was a better game day coach than Botch.

Yeah, I think if we dont see major improvement next year its a big red flag, may not be major in the win loss column but should see a more fundamentally sound team. But he should get 4 years before ever considering getting rid of him. He had good and bad moments as expected.

Dooley left no OL or depth -- ask Justin Worley about it

Logic, just maybe CJP is waiting on his future OC who has obligations at his present job. Could be contractual or maybe he is being a man about it and honoring his previous boss concerning recruits. I hope this is the case because this is the kind of coaches we need.

Fair weather fans are pussies! Shut the **** up and go be a Georgia fan or an Alabama fan or whoever. I don't give a ****. No wonder the whole world looks at us like idiots. I'm willing to get kicked off this site defending the team I love, The Tennessee Volunteers to pathetic people that call themselves fans. Damn, I hate stupid people. The Vols will rise again! I love my team! GBO! Go Vols!

The jury is definitely still out on Pruitt. I believe its going to take until year 3 or 4 to get a really good read about him as a coach.

It won't take that long, 3 at the most. Could be even sooner depending on who he picks as his OC. 5-7 in year two and then 6-6 or 7-5 in year 3 and he gone.

problem is, that's a clear progression: 5-7, 5-7, 6-6 is not sexy at all but the team would be improving in a sense

he has 5 years honestly unless he pulls a 4-8 year 3 or after. fans are tuning out so the heat on him won't quite be as much as it was for Dooley or Butch

Look at Michigan. In year 3. The were there, but then get blown out by OSU. Three years with a home run hire and still didn't get there in a much easier conference. They'll be on top for as long as Harbough is there now. Urban is gone. If it
hadn't of been Harbough, they would have already started over again.

I dont see it. And if he is fired in year 3, then expect yet another decade of irrelevance. I dont think you understand what kind of rebuilding job he has in front of him.

I think he can go 6-6 next year. Year 3 could be 7-8 wins. Highly doubt he gets fired for that. If he does, like I said, we are screwed again.

Exactly. And I dont know if Harbaugh will start beating OSU. They are a loaded program.

I don't either BOT but that has been what the Sports Animal has been saying while listening at lunch. They're state run radio but are also giving this perspective.

If TN can't exercise some patience and let Pruitt have sufficient time, UT should just shut down the football program.

Also, I think a lot depends not just on wins and losses but on how the team actually plays. Undisciplined, lazy, error prone? That would shorten Pruitt's tenure. But, if the team plays soundly and with heart, and loses to objectively better teams, he will be given more time.

There is no such thing as a uninspiring successful head coach. Jury's still out on ours, especially after our worst loss to Vanderbilt in my 61 year lifetime. There are no championship winning football teams without offensive minded head coaches these days.
