Well He started it. How else do you think bama landed who they did
Every school was paying players like Bama. Let’s be real. You don’t think us, UF, FSU, TX and OSU weren’t paying everybody? Come on. TN fans are gonna have to grow up and accept the fact that Saban was the greatest coach of all time. Yes he paid to get players but he developed the talent, won at an incredibly high rate and created an NFL factory.

Oh and Saban didn’t create anything. Paying for players has been going on way before Saban.

It’s been said multiple times. We will see how committed the University etc are about winning this portal season. It’s not about over paying or not anymore they all will get overpaid just who is willing to do it to win.

Texas Tech has billionaire boosters willing to give whatever

At some point you can’t keep up…doesn’t mean we aren’t “serious”

Just my opinion

This financial support will be his Legacy

If only we had more of these folks wearing Pantone 151.
Apparently we don't :(

Was listening to the Ainge show this morning and Brian Rice said one of our billionaire alumni doesn't give anymore money than he spends on season tickets.

And Erik knows big boosters who aren't that willing to keep shelling out cash. Especially to those that keep asking for more.

Which has me thinking, this NIL thing is new...Will the same people be shelling out millions of dollars a year for a decade plus? I mean, unless youre a billionaire, it's a ridiculous expense over a long period of time.

Thinking what? That everyone can pay now due to NIL? Or that being able to pay under the table was an advantage for some programs before?

Yes. I will keep thinking both, but I didn’t need your permission.
Everybody paid under the table. If you think Saban walked away because everyone can pay now then you have problems.

Like arguing with everything anyone posts on this board? Those kinds of problems?

And yes, everyone paid under the table. On that we agree. A few were much better at it than others because it was systematic and institutional, with everyone at the university on board from the top down. They were the ones who cried the loudest when NIL came about. The Red Elephant Club had it down to a science for years.

There's a reason Pruitt thought he could get away with his shenanigans at Tennessee. He would have at Alabama. At Tennessee, the higher ups found out and put an end to it (and him).

Academics and charity are much more important in this world. Problem is that billionaires don't do
much in those areas either (possible exception being Gates)
Id say the Billionaires youve never heard of,'in fact do this very thing. Yes they build golf courses, real estate et al.

Gatton, Nicewonder, Mcglothlin. If you live in SW VA or NE TN you prob know those names.
