If he read it you just made him lose a half hour of finding more facts on Tenn by laughing at you and confirm his stereotype of the mullett wearing Tenn neck. Since he probably printing it to allow his bird a place to poop than you just wasted more time.

DahLoser,

I have no idea who you are, where you live, or why you think your presence is welcomed on this board. One thing I do know. Many years ago I taught English to fifth graders. You were not one of them.

PS-not enabling comments to the piece online was a serious mistake, in my opinion, because the clicks your column has received today from angry Vols such as myself-as well as the rhetoric an open, public discussion would've generated-and is generating on message boards-surely would've made a noticeable blip, enabling you to charge more to run their banners and such on nyt.com. As you well know, in the new media economy, every nickel counts. Or is the New York Times willing to sacrifice a possible and positive augmentation to the bottom line so that Mr. Vecsey can safely publish a hit-and-run piece?

Does the NYT ever allow comments on any of their articles? I don't frequent their site enough to know.

If they do allow comments, I believe there probably was some struggle on whether or not to allow comments, on the one hand, as you point out, it would have garnered additional traffic and longer page visits, thus increasing the possibility of click revenue, however, they knew it was a hit piece and probably didn't want well thought out responses such as yours.

Please post any response that you might receive.

Great reads! We need to find ways to get them in the general public.

I posted mine here and on OuterMonvolia. I didn't post it on Grits-scape, but I was banned there by the world's tallest midget and company for speaking out against their hero Phil Fulmer (they clearly couldn't compete with the rhetoric; it's best for both sides).

I also sent it to Vol Addict for distribution on his email lists and I posted it on my facebook page and on Clay Travis' as well as a wall posting.

It felt good to write that. Probably felt a lot like Emmit Smith when he knocked TO off his cleats while he was dancing on the Dallas star on the 50 yard-line.

the pathetic thing is that the author of the article will likely laugh off the comments, and continue writing from his post-modern paradigm of "open-mindedness". These articles would be acceptable, wrong but acceptable, if he just came out and said 'I think southerners are all inbred and stupid and I really want Lane Kiffin to fail' then we could just write him off.

What is really pathetic about 21st century journalism, specifically here, is the constant claim that they report things like this "objectively". What I would really want the guy to honestly answer: do you truly think you stumbled upon a scandel and reported it, or did your reporting make this into a scandel??
