West Virginia's Ad says he'll take the SEC call

I know people keep listing WVU's b-ball program as a plus however isn't this the team coached by Bob Huggins? i.e. the Drunk? So the SEC want's a school that openly hired a guy that was run off from Cincy because he was an alcoholic? Nothing good PR wise will come from the SEC adding WVU. I don't want Mizzou in the conference b/c I think they're distinctly midwestern but I'd take them in a NY minute over WVU. Slive needs to tell NCST whatever he told ATM to get them to change their tune regarding SEC membership.

US News & World Report Ranking (not the end all be all but a decent reference):

WVU 176
MissSt 151
OleMiss 143
Arky 132
UK 129
LSU 124
USC 111
NCST 111
UT 104
Missouri 94
Auburn 85
Bama 79
VT 69
ATM 63
UGA 56
UF 53
Vandy 17

Why scrape the bottom of the barrel with WVU?

Academically, how are we behind Auburn? how do we trail UF and UGA by 50. No way there is that big of a gap. UT students have the second highest ACT average in the conference behind Vandy/

I don't get the WVU hate, nor for that matter the cracks on the state. I've lived in WV for fourteen years (about a half-hour from WVU) and this is a great area to live. There is poverty for sure, but also lots of great down-home sorta folks. And the football team is very competitive--moreso than several SEC teams are on average. Many of the fans are rowdy and rude...but so are many of the fans in Baton Rouge and Gainesville.

Now, I'm not saying WVU is a good fit for the SEC...I don't really think A&M is either though. At some point all this expansion is going to start diluting the uniqueness of the conference. I'm sure it will be successful financially, but somewhere along the way we just might lose something we love.

People here have never been to Newport.

Totally.

Having Tech up my butt is better than living in Miami, though. By a long shot. I mean really, do you choose to live there?

Wow really?...Seriously WOW!.....Yeah, I choose to live here....I prefer to live in a beautiful tropical place where the girls are gorgeous and the temperatures rarely get below 60 degrees in the winter, I prefer palm trees and sunny white sand beaches..Hanging out with beautiful people not to mention the rich and famous on occasion is really happening..Just like you prefer to live in a poor depressed area where the sun rarely comes out in the winter and its freezing cold....I'm sure you got more than tech up your butt living in that kind of area but hey who am I to judge

Depends on what day of the week the ACT is averaged.

Miami Vice tells me that everyone wears pastel colors and looks like a cheeseball. Also, Cubans.

Cockroaches. Big ole honkin' cockroaches. Or "palmetto bugs", as you like to say.

Lots of diversity around here --I hear French, Russian, and Arabic at the local Trader Joe's --but no cockroaches. Or mosquitoes for that matter. :)

Anyway, glad you like Miami, but you can keep the plastic.

Will Smith also tells me Miami is a lovely place. I don't believe him because he's black.

I've never ever left east Tennessee and I never ever plan to.

This. Been to Miami. It sucks. In a completely different way than Morgantown sucks. Yet equal.

I think someone might be trying to compensate for something, needing to drop the "rich and famous" line. I enjoy myself, family, and friends enough to live anywhere happily....except maybe Miami.

Interesting map! Who'd have thought one would find distressing levels of poverty on Indian reservations, in the Mississippi valley, and in the heart of coal country?

I'll be passing through Grafton to pick up a fellow Vol fan on my way down to Knoxville shortly.
