Wes Rucker made a good point

This next weekend is supposedly the biggest for UT from a recruiting standpoint. As long as UT has a DC in place by then, things should be fine.

I suspect we will see a DC and, potentially, three additional coaches announced before then.

Wouldn't even be surprised to see CHH out and his replacement named by Friday (or shortly thereafter).

Should be an interesting week for UT.

I'm never going to wish Tennessee ill (I think next year we get 8 wins), but it would be interesting if Dooley doesn't come through and we end up looking for a head coach again and Kirby Smart is available. Just a thought...

Smart? Let's hire someone with 0 head coaching experience just becauase all the talent where he is now makes him look good?? Really??

What about Jmoore's comments that they did. Have those shown to be false too?

I'm rooting for one heck of a propaganda campaign to make this Shannon deal huge.

Maybe I've missed what changed other than people saying they don't know anything (outside the ones that have said RS) and DD's still interviewing.

don't worry about what jmoore says.

"Baffling to me that some think Dooley would have a DC in place for a week and NOT at least tell his recruits. Seriously, people ... think."

"If Dooley had a DC in place, his commits and other recruiting targets would know. People in the program would know. And none of them know."

If Dooley does not have a DC tomorrow, he is very much behind. Just my opinion......

First, fans don't think. They react and over react. As for him being "behind"...that's debatable. If it's something that has to be rushed to salvage a recruiting class, I can't agree. Anyone who has followed recruiting for any length of time will tell you that you're fortunate to hit on 50% of your recruiting class. It's far more predictable and productive to make the right hire not only for this recruiting class but the rest of the roster as well as in the years to come. Make the right choice on the DC. Rushing is foolish, short sighted and reactionary...then again...that's what UT fans are known for.

Anyone think this surprise could be Chavis? Think about it, if Chavis wanted to come back he wouldn't announce he is leaving LSU before the National championship. THAT might be the reason that Dooley is keeping this whole thing a secret. Probably isn't true, but i was just thinking about it..

I had actually thought about that theory myself except insert Kirby Smart and Bama into that..It would make sense for either.

One can dream,right??:sleep::rock:

Known fact: Rucker is not a UT fan

Known fact: Rucker does not like Dooley's media policy.

Known fact: current players and current commits know who the DC will be.

Rucker is bitter and his agenda is to develop negative thoughts towards Dooley. Rucker has tried to be an insider and has failed.

He needs to go report on a different school, and get out of Knoxville.

Why would Hart fire Dooley, then (1) pay him $5,000,000. (2) then hire an un experienced head coach, who is likely to be no better than Dooley?
If Hart can't hire a home run head coach, then he might as well stay with Dooley' rather than fire one mediocre coach, pay the buy out and hire another medicore coach.

If Rucker ever made a good point (that had any substance to it), that would be a first

Are you old enough to remember the old Chavis prevent defenses that lost us several games in the last decade? He did alright when he had overwhelming talent in the 1990's and at LSU, but he was terrible when he doesn't have the horses. Besides he has said that he hates to recruit. He doesn't have to at LSU. Let them keep him.

Considering when Wilcox and Sirmon left and when you say thay have to have a new DC in place that hardly equates to a "full and normal hiring process". JMO

I would agree with this. Dooley is nothing if not meticulous. A DC search would often take several weeks if not longer. Throw in the need to be on the road recruiting last week, the coaches conference over the weekend, and the upcoming recruiting visits and this becomes anything but a normal hiring process.

Remember, Dooley, Hart and UT haven't been the ones forcing these artificial timetables or throwing out the names of RS or anybody else. That's mostly on VN and the media. I think they are doing everything reasonable to try and have a solid choice in place before this weekend and I believe (and hope) they will. It will be great if the choice is a great DC and a PR homerun but the emphasis has to be on the great DC part of the equation.

I also don't believe that ANYBODY would be hired with the "coach in waiting" tag. Suicide to the foreseeable success of the program in my opinion. I also don't think a coach would refuse the job based on Dooley being younger or "less accomplished" than them. Happens all the time in the coaching profession. It's still a high profile postion at a high profile (though not as high as in the past) SEC school. Success here translates into opportunities for any coach.

Regarding timing of an announcement, I would say it has everything to do with tonight's NC game. Anything that is announced today will get buried in a short matter of hours with all the NC - and worse, LSU and Bama - talk. Since it's a lock that an SEC team will win the NC, getting some separation from one of our key competitor's big news is a good thing. And, you would want to have the last big news before signing date ... Not the first - i.e. the one that got buried by someone else's hype. So, even with another SEC team winning the NC, we can call our mutual prospects and say "well, that's last year, we are focused on the future and look who we just landed as our new DC." Now, regarding who it will be, I haven't a clue.

No probably to it. It's absolutely not true. Chavis is NEVER coming back to coach at UT.
