So you endorse stealing someone else's work verbatim, and get a laugh if they have an issue with it?

I mean, Wes isn't wrong here. They have a right to try to protect their product. I don't know what you do for a living, but I'm guessing you wouldn't appreciate others taking your paycheck.

Dear Wes, (since we know you are reading this thread)

Consider posting your information and updates as Jpegs so that the ony way people can repost your stuff is to save those images and repost them unless they want to go out and transcribe that information (unlikely).

It would not prevent everyonefrom doing it, but it will cut back a bit on the reposting

Hmmm...if a journalist pulls some of his info from message boards and some posters post paysite stuff in message boards from that journalist, who is plagiarizing who? Its give and take. Everyone knows guys like rucker sometimes get their legwork done by message board guys, and everyone knows paysites are going to get their stuff copy/pasted now and then.

I don't like the paywall sites, but with the internet it's tough to make a dime and we all have an interest in someone professionally covering the Vols. Whether you like him personally or not (I do), he does a great job on the vols and making fun of him for trying to be compensated for his career is juvenile.

There are never posts here that have full articles verbatim. Usually there is a paraphrase with credit given to the original copyright holder. Isn't that legal?

I honestly think that he has a point, but him saying that will not help anything. I have a blog called General Neyland about Tennessee football and I'd be mad if someone stole information from that. I wouldn't post that on my twitter account though, it obviously does more harm than good.

I would say that would help as well, but if you can't get the info without getting a membership to the site, and you agree to the TOA that you won't repost the posted on the premium board, then I would ban you too, especially if it took possible customers out of my pocket.

Yes. The problem with these pay sites is usually you can find the information elsewhere for free or maybe 10 seconds later because of public domains (volnation, facebook, twitter). It's not worth the money anymore to subscribe.

Not necessarily. There is quite a bit of info that never makes it to here from VQ i know. Obviously huge stuff like injuries/commits etc does but some other stuff never makes it to other boards.

It happens all the time in the recruiting forum. I used to do the same thing a while back, but haven't in a long time. They are trying to make a living, and they are given access to the program that the average fan doesn't have. So, if they want to charge for that info, I would get mad if it was me and I was getting info for my paying customers, only to have it posted on a free board for all to see.

I would say that over 95% of what BRAJP posts over on the VQ, makes it over here in some form. I remember when I did it, I would post like 1 quote, then link the article to VQ. Now, we see all the quotes from the players, and none of the filler parts of the article for most of the player updates in the recruiting forum.

And when we become aware of it, we either delete it or edit it way down.
