...apparently is already banged up and sporting a couple of knee braces. I applaud his willingness to move from DE to a less natural DT position for him... obviously a real team player; however, I'm afraid that we're not going to be able to count on him for consistent SEC caliber reps at DT this year. I was already worried about his lack of size playing DT, and now it sounds like he's going to be gimpy. I hope that Hughes and Walls are as good as advertised... and that Chase Nelson and Dan Williams stay healthy.

Link? Ha ha, sorry always wanted to post that. But in all seriousness, I am sure he is just being precautionary since he just came off that knee surgery. I believe a lot of other players wear knee braces.

From the TFP...
Wes Brown woes Senior defensive lineman Wes Brown's sore knees clearly continue to bother him. He struggled through several periods in obvious pain and didn't finish practice.

Promising redshirt freshman defensive end Willie Bohannon was helped off the field late in practice with an apparent knee injury. His status wasn't immediately known.

While losing Brown would definitely hurt, I think there is enough depth to offset that. We can withstand a loss at DT more than we could on the OL.

I was just about to post a similar thread about my serious concerns with depth at DT...

after reading all the reports from practice yesterday, it just doesn't sound like Brown is going to be able to play this season. Hubbs said he looked like he had already endured a full season at DT and was noticeably in pain.

We are one injury away from a crisis on the interior...

fyp

seriously though, his knees are probably just bone on bone right now

i wouldnt blame him if he never played again. he has given his all for tennessee, and when he gets older, he is really going to start paying the price. i salute him for this

i always thought wes was waaay too undersized to play DT. although a possible area of concern, this doesn't come as surprising news to me.

Knee stuff for a D-lineman can really mess you up because you need power out of your lower body for leverage, especially if you are undersized. I tore my PCL my junior season and declined surgery and came back and finished the season and was told that it'd be a 10 month recovery and that I'd likely miss my senior year if I had surgury. So I passed on that but as a D-lineman with a bad knee it was really hard. Even if they have to hold him out of camp thats a position we cant lose anyone.
