Having Surgery on his knee

Tennessee senior defensive lineman Wes Brown is gone for the spring, head coach Lane Kiffin said after Friday's scrimmage, and Brown is likely to have surgery in the very near future. Kiffin said Brown's injury is the Vols' most significant at this point

I hope he's back for Fall...I'd hate to see an Athens homeboy not get to play his whole senior season.

Sounds like one of those deals where they won't know how bad it is, til' they get in there, and look at it.

Same knee problems he's been having. I think they said he retore his meniscus but I could be wrong. I played the last two seasons of my football career with a torn ligament in my knee. Its not fun stuff

When I first heard he was having knee surgery, it kinda scared me to death. I'm not saying a torn meniscus is nothing at all to worry about, but it is definitely not the worst thing that could be wrong with a knee. I went to high school with a guy who tore his in basketball. He had his surgery in December a few days before Christmas and was back on the court the 2nd week in January...
I talked to him about this a few minutes ago and he said that football players don't have as much trouble recovering as basketball players do. He also said that Brown could be able to play when they take the stitches out after about 2 weeks, but I'm sure they will rest Wes for a couple of more weeks after that...
I'm not saying this is what is gonna happen, but I'm very relieved to learn that it is a torn meniscus and not nothing more serious...
But he went on to say that he had orthascopic surgery which is easiest. If they have to go in and actually repair the meniscus, it will take longer for him to heal. UT fans should really hope he has orthascopic surgery and not the other one. But either way he should be back by the time the season starts...

good thing is a torn meniscus and a ligament are completely different. He should easily be ready to go by fall

So we're just talking about having his knee scoped right? If so, he should be good to go by fall if all goes well.

Wes Brown has arthroscopic surgery on both knees

From Staff Reports
Tennessee defensive lineman Wes Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on both knees Thursday at UT Medical Center, according to Vols head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh.

McVeigh expects Brown to make a full recovery in time for the team’s offseason conditioning program in June. Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic handled the procedure.
