Were you born into this or did you just decide to pick Tennessee

Dad took me to my first game before I could walk. I wish I could actually remember it. I do remember as a kid tailgating, throwing the football around and eating home made fried chicken, potato salad, probably baked beans and a home made apple pie for desert. Damn my mom could cook!

Anyway born in to it.

Born into it. My mom missed the ‘71 Penn State game because I was born earlier in the week. Dad went to the game. We were all at the ‘72 rematch. Tickets in the family since the 60’s

Lifelong Vol fan here. Started following UT football in the late ‘70’s. Loved Saturdays in the fall and hearing John Ward. John Ward calling the UT games on the radio was the first color TV we owned. It was that memorable.

Born into it. A local. Only team I've ever really cared about. Grew up playing sports and had a father that supported it. Sometimes take me to games or we would listen to John Ward on the radio when driving around. Father was born here, but my mother was born in Florida...though her family moved here when she was still young.

When I was young I had a cousin from Jacksonville, Florida. He would always come up to see us and watch the yearly game between us and the Gators. Or we would go see him and watch the game in Florida. With him I started the rivalry early and we would always talk smack to each other about that year's game. My dad sent me this picture a few months ago with us three together. My cousin on the left wearing an old Florida shirt, me, and then my dad on the right.

I look way too excited. lol Probably just over the moon to see my cousin and for the game. I think I'm wearing a Vols baseball shirt...it may have been from a Vols baseball camp that I went to.

Born in Nashville raised in Brentwood father had me watch the ‘68 Orange Bowl with him when I was 6 years old cried so hard after that loss to the Sooners. Been on the rollercoaster ever since. Had season tickets at different times try to make a game now and then. Been living in KY bashing the mild cats for 30+ years.

Became a Vol at the age of 10, listening to John Ward on the radio. Accepted to UT Knoxville and graduated.
Same here, I remember my Daddy yelling at the radio on Saturdays. That was when Condrege Holloway was there.

Born into it in Cleavage, TN. My family were military transplants that had moved to TN in the late 50s after five years active duty in France. I saw my first UT game when I was 5 in 1965, and I did not miss a home game until my sophomore year at UT because of Mono.

Born into it. At this point I think that is basically everyone who is left. The bandwagon fans have found a new bandwagon. Those of us who have bled orange our whole lives (or at least a large majority of it) are almost all that is left.

Big Orange Fever is highly contagious though.

I currently live with the girlfriend (Alabama Grad) and her two daughters. They are slowly being converted. We were having a party for the game at our house this weekend (just 40-50 of our closest friends) and she came out that morning wearing orange. Unfortunately it was more of a Texas orange, and I told her there was no way I was letting her wear that color when her Alma Mater is playing Texas. So, Crimson it was, but after the noon survival by Bama, and then hearing a house full of people break out in Rocky Top after that win, she said it was time she got some real Tennessee Orange. She'll be wearing it in Neyland Saturday.

Born into it but not the way most were. Whole family is from Alabama fortunately for me we lived in Knoxville when I was born. Born in the UT Hospital. They put orange in your blood there. As tough as it is sometimes wouldn’t change it. Couldn’t imagine being an bama or burn fan. Rocky Top will always be home sweet home to me.

I lived in Roanoke, VA until 1992 but mostly followed basketball and NFL.

I was supposed to transfer to UT from a jr college in the fall of 1992. However, I decided to attend summer school and recall Johnny having a heart attack and heart surgery.

I didn’t know anything about TN football until I attended the FL-TN game. Wow! I still remember the game and can still envision Mose Phillips taking a pass from Heath Shuler for six in the monsoon.

I’ve been an avid TN fan since and now my 19 yr old son is a sophomore at TN.

Go Vols!
