We're ok

I hate to lose any of these guys under these circumstances, but imo Tyler Smith has hurt us as many times as he has helped...trying to be something he is not. He is not a go-to guy. He is a 10ppg, 8rbg player, period. I will not miss the out of control, off-balance, left-handed 7 footers that he continually misses game in and out. He is a great athlete but an average basketball player, at best. Cam Tatum is a descent ball player...just inconsistent. Goins is what he is...a back-up PG, nothing else. And Williams, we are definitely going to miss his soft touch around the rim, lol...

maybe this keeps Chism under the basket instead of out on the perimeter where he hurts more than helps

This is very disappointing to say the least. This is a reflection on Pearl's ability to judge character with the players he is recruiting. I've lost track of how many have been dismissed or suspended during his tenure. I think Pearl is a great guy and a good coach and has certainly lifted the level of our play, but I think he needs to reevaluate the type of players he needs and make sure they are not "thugs" before we get them. Most of them are not coachable and then end up in trouble. Another example of guys who have a chance not only to have a great team and get an education, but to be good people off the court and they just can't live up to that standard. We need more guys like Lofton, Watson, and Bradshaw among others that have character and can play ball, too.

You named exceptions. If we only recruited sweethearts, we'd have a team full of 'heart' that gets blown out in front of a crowd of 6,000 every game.

That is not true. Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Indiana when Knight was coach, Texas seem to get good kids and good players. I think Wayne Chism is the only kid left on this recruiting class and it isn't because they were going pro.

There are always pleasant surprises in a shakeup like this. Tyler has been resting on his laurels. Skyler needs to step up and start hitting shots. Who knows anything about Hall, Bone, Woolridge? And what happened to Hubert? Is he gone?

Hubert tore his ACL.

Hall could step up from this, I am not sad I will miss seeing Brian Williams miss point blank shots.

Woolridge I seem to have more hope for than most on here. I thought he played good minutes against Memphis.

Losing players hurts.

Losing all these players possibly and losing depth combined with our style kills us.

especially when that 1/3 actually plays alot of meaningful minutes

but so far unproductive minutes. i really don't see where any of these four have been solid contributors this season.
Perhaps the opposite may take place and real teamwork through adversity will happen. I haven't seen real teamwork since 2007-08.
