Huepel refused to take what the defense gave him all night. we were gashing the run game but we kept dropping back to throw the deep ball and Joey looked like it was his first time holding a football. We knew the defense was going to give up 30. It's not acceptable for our offensive minded head coach to only score 21 offensive points against a mid level big 10 team. he better do some soul searching because the end of this season put him on the hot seat whether you like it or not. Another new qb next year/new defensive scheme against a much tougher schedule.......gbo

It has nothing to do with what I like or don't like. He's not on the hot seat. It will get warm with another 8-5 season, but right now it's cool as a cucumber whether YOU like it or not

This season was a disappointment but Heupel has us on the right track. Stay the course, new DC will improve the defense. Heupel knows how to score points. We have a really good class coming in, the future is bright. This season is Heupel's floor, we are going to be better moving forward.
I disagree. Heupel is the problem. Any moves he makes or portal additions he brings in will be lipstick on a pig...no pun intended. The guy is nothing more than a gimmicky offensive coordinator who's schtick has been solved. He's a year away from being gone...two at most.

fact? hahahaha your insider sources confirm to you that everything is ok and Huepel has nothing to worry about?
Yeah, fact. Just because someone disagrees with your uninformed takes doesn't mean they're accepting mediocrity. As usua, your takes are just clueless with absolutely no real perspective

I’m not sure he ‘knows how to score’ when it counts. Seems like we struggled to score after the first quarter most of this year.
Most offenses are scripted about 20-25 plays to begin the game. For the pace of most games, that means you run out of script about the beginning or mid second quarter. With a fast paced offense, maybe sooner. This exactly jives with your observations.
Thus, Josh can scheme an exceptional script, BUT seriously lacks when the script ends and in-game coaching begins; the chess match, if you will. All coaches and teams know this, observe the script, and make adjustments to counter. Well, all teams except our Vols...

What I saw was, coaches have learned to play a deep secondary giving up the box, forcing us to beat them running the football with a numbers advantage and we can't keep a drive alive. Since they all started doing this we are not leading the SEC in scoring.

Most great coaches script adjustments, providing every possible scenario on that spreadsheet they constantly look at during a game. We really need to develop more plays under center. While the run game is effective most of the time, running the ball from under center creates a whole new grid of angles that can't be achieved from the shotgun

Next years team (if they stay healthy) should be better overall. Offensive skill players are in a good spot.. if anything it’s the brutal schedule that could make next year look worse than what it actually is. Either way, Heupel has us winning consistently more than any other coach in the last 20 years by a long shot. I’m not giving him the boot right now

Heupel will Never lead us to any kind of championship, you shall see
Any coach at UT right now would suffer from the terrible decade(2010-2020). It's When todays recruits watched college football.
Derek Dooley, Jeremy Pruitt, and Butch Jones

Actually Brazelle was a big loss.. His presence might have been the difference in the bowl game.
