Welp, Looks Like Butch...

In my way of seeing things, it isn't just appeasing the fan base. We are presenting the rest of college football and recruits the view that Tennessee is just fine with being a bad football team. At this moment, nobody out there understands why Butch is still our coach with his awful performance. Now, that all might turn around when, and if (I have this awful fear that joke will be back next year) we announce he is fired. An interim at least shows that we are not OK with this pathetic excuse for coaching, inane slogans, and blame passing. All just the way I see it.
Note taken on more than just the fan base. I see your point, although for the life of me I cannot see Currie keeping Butch. The end of the season will tell. We might beat Mizzou and Vanderbilt, but I see no chance with LSU. I think we end up 4-8, and no survival for Butch. But I too, hear that little voice that says otherwise. I wanted him fired after the Vanderbilt loss last year. Should always beat Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

And we are still here dealing with the repercussions of it 10 years after the fact. His record looks really good at the moment. Including the last couple of years of his tenure.

His last few years here help aid the start of where we are.

He played his own part here regardless of his previous success.

He would've continued his downward trend. Who they hired after has zero to do with whether or not he needed to be fired.

Hire Patterson or anyone of any count after fuller and Tennessee is looking pretty good.

Conjecture. Could have went either way.

Will be here till the end of the season.

Of course I’m thankful for the W tonight but the downside is it gives Currie a reason to keep Butch till the end of the season.

I’m not convinced that this team can pull out a W against LSU, Missouri, or Vandy.

I’m happy for the players because they give it their all on the field every snap.

It just sucks because we still have a HC on the sidelines who’s yet to win an SEC game.

I'm believing now they will not fire him nor will they give him an extension our class will suffer and still finish top 20 but will not be enough for us to win 10 games as Jones has to have elite talent to win and other than rb and secondaryour staff flat sucks at developing and both coordinators are awful

He is gone at years end.

If we keep selling out with Jones they possibly will.

Depends....

You really think fans will flock to see more seats and a another jumbo tron rather than a "new product" put on the field by a new coach? I don't think so.

I'm the same on canning him after vandy last year. I've always felt the design of the offense was awful, and his coaching decisions have been subpar from the get go. I'm afraid we hit 4-8 as well, and see the worst vol football team in history. I just want it over with at this point.

He has a shot at Vandy. That's the only possible win left on this year's schedule. So it's Vandy to avoid losing 8 for the first time ever.

With the Oline in the shape it's in I don't see them coming close to winning another game

Gone at seasons end so it doesnt matter

May not be gone at the end of the season....

Maybe we can't find a better coach who is willing to come to Tennessee. Why pay bUTch to leave and hire someone just like him? it does not make financial sense.

Currie may look at this situation as bUTch has improved the program in the past 5 years. He has improved recruiting, he has taken us to three bowl victories. Currie may look at this as bUTch just having a bad season.

Currie may look at the losses and give bUTch another season because we barely lost to Florida. Barely lost to USC and barely lost to Ky. Close losses may serve as a moral victory to Currie. "We actually are not that far off" that may be Currie's reasoning.

Three plays and we are 7 - 2...... (1) Busted defensive play against Florida. (2) Jeff george gets in to the end zone on last play against Ky. (3) one of many plays that could have changed the outcome of the USC game.

I think bUTch should be gone. My reasoning is because we have lost to teams that we were superior to.
Florida 2014, 2015 & 2017. Vandy 2016 A & M 2016 USC 2016 & 2017 Arkansas 2015 Oklahoma 2015 Ky. 2017

That is 10 games that bUtch lost for us. A better coach would have won all or at least 1/2 of those games.

Also, noone cares about the 3 plays we could been 7-2. The reason we didnt is because we are not good.

Recruits know change is coming. They just don't know who it is. If you fire Jones and don't name a replacement until the season is over they are still in the dark.

How do recruits know that, yet half of VolNation doesn't? 😂

I know we don't care about those 3 plays because a loss is a loss. However; for all we know Currie could have the mindset that they were close losses.

Yea the fans had a chance to ensure Butch was gone at the end of the year.

A stadium full of paying fans excited to see Tennessee be in a 4th quarter game with southern miss opens the door for Butch at Tennessee in 2018.

If Butch is brought back tonight was the reason.
Oh brother.... Drama much?

I'll believe Butch is gone when I see his taillights heading out of town.

The deductive reasoning skills displayed by some of you is..... Lacking.
