You should start preparing yourself for the possibility of Butch still coaching at UT in 2018. Nothing from Currie, boosters, Haslam, or anyone has indicated otherwise.
I watched it on my phone. Every play
It was a ghost town in the second half it appeared.
Had bama vs. Lsu going on tv.
Also known as real football.
Not a rigged game where one team gets 15 penalties and another team gets none.
If you have ever played or coached football you know what a joke that is to have that happen. It's obvious
It's the first game I remember watching where Tennessee won the game and I felt like there was nothing gained by it.
Yea the fans had a chance to ensure Butch was gone at the end of the year.
A stadium full of paying fans excited to see Tennessee be in a 4th quarter game with southern miss opens the door for Butch at Tennessee in 2018.
If Butch is brought back tonight was the reason.

The now 10 year long Fulmer firing debacle must be playing on the minds of "boosters" and Administration. Vocal VN contributors make up only a small percentage of the fan base. I think Jones will be here in 2018.

Will be here till the end of the season.
Of course Im thankful for the W tonight but the downside is it gives Currie a reason to keep Butch till the end of the season.
Im not convinced that this team can pull out a W against LSU, Missouri, or Vandy.
Im happy for the players because they give it their all on the field every snap.
It just sucks because we still have a HC on the sidelines whos yet to win an SEC game.
Yep. I would have attended homecoming and the game, hanging out with old bros at the frat house, etc., etc., etc., if the long drive & my cantankerous ticker wasn't such an inconvenience. I'not divorcing my beloved alma mater...or UT football...due to an impending coaching change. That's a natural occurrence in the wide world of sports. I did, however, cancel my road trip to Lexington (tix in trash can), due to a dread for probably an ugly "L" on the schedule. RE firing Butch ASAP: I've gotten over it. GBO!Myself and several others have been around long enough to know that attendance doesn't effect if a coach is retained or is gone. Also you can see that getting rid of a coach doesn't necessarily make your offense magically better, see Florida. There is no gain in firing Butch unless you have someone to announce as head coach and most of those guys are still working.
Yep... There's no recruiting benefit and you risk a complete meltdown. There's really no good solution when it becomes inevitable that your coach is done.
However, an interim means (to recruits) that something is going to change. Keeping Butch until the end of the season means recruits are left wondering whether he goes or stays.
At this point, what's the difference in a "complete meltdown" or our current trajectory? 😀
This.
To everyone one who wants to salvage the season (not many any more, only 3 games left) this is not a good way to salvage it.
