Well, we are two days away, and I just figured what the hell

you can call anything you want Mickey Mouse... ask OU if they think the play Boise St ran to beat them was Mickey Mouse? Doesnt really matter if it works

never said it didnt work, its a mickey mouse play, and it wont happen under Monte's watch. take it to the bank

makes us pay? take it to the bank? really? I mean at this point what are you really trying to say...that because of Monte Kiffin that Florida isnt going to score or that because Monte Kiffin is there that trick plays need not apply? I think that is a bit of a gross exageration... and thats a guarantee... 8)

yours doesn't qualify.

You run a finesse offense predicated on speed. Your defense is pure speed and lackluster against the run. It simply hasn't proven out because everyone has to throw the ball to catch up. Remind me which of your d linemen is this big nasty run stopper? You have one linebacker that probably fits, but he's the fish out of water.

Florida has been the class of the SEC because of overall team speed, period. Too many guys with too many wheels for any other team in the conference to account for them all. That's not a bad thing in the least. Alabama is the most physical right now. Tennessee was in the 90s. UF has never been.

+1.

I don't ever recall any analysts pundits touting Florida's physicality....I'm not saying its never been said--just not before their speed is mentioned about 10 times.

I agree with the UT folks on here that Florida has not run a power running style of offense...however UF does have a power back in Emmanuel Moody...I thought he looked great last week against CSU and what does that mean for the future? I have no idea it was CSU... Moody is a 6'0 215lb back who can run for power and speed... alot of UF people have touted him as an integral part of the next version of the spread that Florida is looking to implement...He will be extremely important next year after Tebow has left...With John Brantley not being able to take those hits that Tebow does ...Moody will play a large part in that... I expect to see more power running this year that ever under Urban.

...

That is easy. Because someone said that you don't.

.

Well, I don't think we have one. Not in the traditiional sense of it, anyway. And I don't really care.

I contend you need one to win close games and avoid upsets. perhaps i will be proven to be wrong, but florida still hasn't run the table, and if tebow goes down they are in deep trouble.

Well, obviously, if Tebow were lost that's going to cause a major fall off in a lot of areas. That's no secret.

Not sure that we will ever find oursevles in a positon where we suddenly need a power running game to win a particular game. Not necessarily counting on there not being any close games at the end. More that running up the gut is not always the solution to that situation.

no if you saw what i was hammering at, stuff like that jump pass isnt gonna work. are coaches arent exactly clueless. Im sure ANY nfl defensive coordinator could stop that crap, easy.

No one is saying that Monte Kiffin isnt a great coach but these are college kids and by stating how great your coach is has nothing to do with Kiffins credentials or the fact he is coaching college players... trick plays and gimic plays will always have their place in football its why they are run...

we will see. i wouldnt call that jump pass a trick play. hook and ladder, statue of liberty (when you refered to BSU earlier) those are trick plays. Hes gonna try it and there will be an orange 14 there

What the heck do I know about that? Go call Charlie Strong or Urban Meyer. Just google Florida Vanilla defense football or something like that and you'll get a million articles about it.

You tell us, you brought it up.

I was only questioning what they would be hiding... why change what has worked? Same coaches, same players, same philosophy I was assuming.

I figured the gators gave up a bunch of yards to a crappy DII team because a) they didn't take them seriously, or b) they played base 4-3 because that was all considered necessary.

I think its primarily because the starters were out in about ten minutes.

ohh gotcha. still 2-3rd stringers still shouldnt allow that kind of yardage against a D-IAA school. esp a crappy one that is CSU. Our second and third string only gave up 80 against a better western kentucky

Then I guess Tennessee is better than Florida...

We're going to have to hit UCLA in the mouth to beat UCLA. They're just as improved as we are. I'm tired of people penciling in a W against UCLA. After one good game against WKU, the fans are acting like we are entitled to a W against a qualified and good UCLA team. It seems like most of y'all have forgotten last year when we were EMBARRASSED on national television by UCLA. I think that we should be looking no further than kickoff on Saturday and that we should live in every moment of that game.

If we win big, that's awesome. ONLY THEN should we be talking about how big it would be to beat Florida.

If we barely win, that's just as awesome. We got our revenge. I'm not looking forward to all the "After this weekend, I'm worried about the UF game" if it's a ten point or less victory.

I'm not going into what could happen if we lose, because I don't want us to or think we will, but some of y'all are getting ridiculous.

I would think that anyone who REALLY wants revenge on UCLA would learn how to put week 3 out of their heads long enough to really enjoy and revel in this game on Saturday. This is the most important game at the moment, so let's get into Saturday, not NEXT Saturday.

My thoughts exactly...Everyone here on this board has forgotten this team beat us last year with their 3rd string QB...They are better and so are we but I in no way would say that we are gonna pound this team...I do feel it will be close again but us having the home field will prevail in the end IMO...Do not get me wrong here, I would love to beat the life out of them for 4 quarters but I can not say were going to...Go Vols Beat The Bruins!!!:clapping:

you really know little to nothing about football strategy do you?

The jump pass is effective because Tebow is so deadly in short yardage situations.

If you bring everyone up to stuff the run, the jump pass opens up. If you leave one or two guys to spy the jump pass, then that's one less guy charging at the LOS.

This is pretty basic.

well you have a short yard situation anyways because whenever that pass comes out, its usually some sort of goal line play. crash like normal, then set up a middle spy

"Most physical team in the SEC"

Is:

1. Extremely well conditioned.
2. Has big, fast nasty linemen on both sides of the ball.
3. Has players that hit extremely hard on defense.
4. Has offensive skill players that are not afraid to initiate contact.
5. Relies more on the run than the pass
6. Fights you for every yard
7. Excellent in the red zone on both side of the ball

#4 - Really?? Harvin, Demps, Rainey, Brandon James all INITIATE CONTACT?? No question they all have speed and elusiveness to score and that is why they are recruited to come into the spread offense, but other than Tebow there is NOBODY who the Gators have had over Meyer's tenure that fits that description.

I just think you abandon any semblance of rationality or impartiality when you imply, suggest, or state, that UF has a poor or even questionalbe defense. History does not bear that out, and specifically with regard to the current unit.

Florida has an excellent defense. That fact is simply not debatable by reasonable human beings.

Now, if you want to suggest that you are going to have some good offensive answers to that, okey doke. If you want to say that your running game will be successful because its really good, have at it.

But if you actually affirmatively claim that UF's defense is bad, you need to just admit that you are willing to think and say whatever makes you feel better about your chances on the 19th, including that Martians will come down and destroy with lasers the Gators' starting defensive line moments before kick off, that ghosts will trip up the linebackers, or that the balance between matter and energy in the universe will reach a critical mass and destroy us all, but Florida first resulting in a forfeit, because each of those theories would be as legitimate as a claim that UF has a bad defense.
