Well VN....

I don't buy it. Not for a second. Fulmer isn't going to let go of any of his control to someone he doesn't know, someone he doesn't have ties to. I really believe Kippy is the best bet we can logically get as long as Fulmer is making decisions.

Chris Hatcher is about a big a pipe dream as my dream for Bo Pelini to become HC here was.

If you wanted Bo Pelini to be our head coach then I don't think I would make any hires you recommend.

I understand that emain, and I have called for Fulmer's and Chavis' heads on several occasions. I just think that sometimes fans should stay quiet since 98% of them have no professional input to provide except, "Fire the Coach". I'm not saying that we should always be quiet, just understand that we have alot to do with how people look at our program.

that 98% of the fanbase, talking around the watercooler, is what makes this sport so great, and what keeps the passion alive. it doesnt take an analyst to figure out that a program is declining. with that being said, i understand the point you are making. i only disagree with highlighted quote.

If Baylor hires Stupor Taylor, they will have poven themselves to be the most idiotic program in a BCS conference.

You know what back when I was a youngin' I had sterotypes of fans. I hated Florida and Alabama fans, so on what have you.

Since I have grown up and started meeting people on a higher level than my pops introducing them to me I, somewhere in my mid-to-higher teens, realized every fan base has different fans.

I have met Bama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, and many more. Out of all of them I have met ones that are good rational people and some that are just outright idiots.

What I'm trying to say is rational people do not jump to a conclusion of what a fan base is like on one fan. Now if they throw beer on them and cups of piss on them that's one thing but looking on a message board and seeing a bunch of Vol fans pissing and moaning about who we're going to hire and about our coach??

Come on man you trying to win the Peace Prize or something? Look on any team's board, it's how it is, brotha.

Good post! The worst fan abuse I saw was at a Bama game where I sat next to a man & wife from Bama. They were very nice and we had a cordial conversation going. Two drunk UT fans sitting behind them were verbally abusive, but he never took the bait. One of them poured his drink on the Bama fans head, and tried to make it look like an accident, but I saw him do it purposely. The guy held his temper, and he was a big man. I apologized to him and asked that he please not judge us all by these morons, and made sure the UT "fans" heard me.
The point being, we have our share of idiot fans too.

Then he is a bigger man than me. Because if someone poured their drink on my head they would be sipping soup through a straw for weeks afterward.

If we were to get someone who noone was familiar with i think it would help us a great deal. Teams seem to know what were running half the time. I can remember in the championship game. Ainge would check to a run and everyone of LSU linebackers crept up to the line of scrimmage. I thought maybe they just guessed right that time. But it wasn't the case. The very next time we ran their linebackers were there again. This maybe moot but we don't run much surprising stuff and when we do amazingly it works. You know why because noone was expecting it. I think it's time to change things up offensively at least give them some different looks to have them scratch their heads a little.

Like Chris Hatcher?:)

Gosh. It's a good thing Cutcliffe got ahold of those kids. Otherwise they never would have even managed to be starters in college. There's no way in hell those guys even get drafted without David's magic.
:eek:lol:Hey, I'm ready to hire the whole bunch at Appy State, they sure put a whippin on the Blue Hens.

Why would anyone think that a program that goes 9-4 and played in the SECCG and yet over 40-50% of the fan base is calling for the HC's head, is an attractive job??

Because it is an attractive job. Arkansas just brought in a highly regarded college coach from the freaking NFL. I guess flying banners over the stadium insulting their coach really hurt them.

Only reason he even went to Arky is because ATL was horrible. Plus he is a journeyman anyways. Next job that is open that could be bigger and better he will jump ship. Petrino may do well at Arky, but he's still a slimeball for what he did to Louisville and ATL even though they were awful.

There were plenty of coaching vacancies. Petrino could have found a job if he'd wanted. Basically, the school with possibly the most disagreeable fanbase in the nation managed to land a highly regarded coach. Another fanbase with a bad reputation, Alabama, managed to do the same thing. Our fanbase may demand excellence, but they aren't behaving like the garbage that flies anti-Nutt propoganda. We're plenty attractive to a big-time coach.

Yeah, kids from UCF turn out to be first round picks all the time. Who would have guessed that David Cutcliffe could take the sons from some loser like a two-time NFL MVP and turn them into good quarterbacks. It's unbelievable really. I'm also super impressed with how he developed guys like Ethan Flatt, Nathan Lane, and Michael Spurlock into extremely solid QBs. Those three guys just really blossomed under Cutcliffe. Great job, coach.

Hey, cut Nathan some slack, kpt. He was awesome in "The Producers". :)

I'm glad our fans are not like that anti-Nutt bunch at Arkansas...to deliberately and publicly create such a poisonous environment that the coach wants to leave even though the school itself wanted him to stay. I was afraid they might FIOA something w/ my name on it. * wipes forehead in relief * That says more about them than it does about Nutt. Those "fans" deserve coaching gypsies like Petrino and Saban. I hope they're as happy in 4 or 5 yrs as they are now.

After all the stink that surrounded the season, I imagine there was an "agreement" that let everyone save face.
