My annual post UT/UK thread and once again I wake up on Sunday with a ton of mixed feelings. I think this is the worst I've felt as a UK football fan ever. I'm young, but there have been some tough moments, but without a doubt this is the worst for me personally. I'll try to keep my thought brief but I'm long winded by nature so forgive me.

1. UT did what good teams do. - I'll be the first to say UK played a pretty poor game, but I'll still give UT credit. UT came out ready to play and were the tougher, more physical team. No excuses.
2. JG deserves support. - I've been mostly quiet on this topic this season, because at the end of the day I'm just a UK fan and have no business telling UT fans who they should like as a QB...but come on guys (and gals). JG has taken a beating and hasn't given up at all. He put up 200 yards on a UK defense that has been pretty good.
3. CJP has this team on the right trajectory. - Some poor games. Some tough losses. But the team will mostly be back next season and be way better next year. It's hard to say the same for UK. They started hot (outside a stinker against Cent. Mich.) and ever since South Carolina, it's been downhill. UK is lucky to not be 5-4. 15 seniors and Snell are going to leave...yikes.
4. After a tough week of UK sports I guess UK is a volleyball school now? - Worst. week. ever.

It's tough but congrats to you all. I'll be the first to tease UT about some of the struggles since the early 2000s, but I'll also be the first to say good luck. I'll continue to hope UT wins every game except for the ones against the Cats.

That does show a lot of class and had to be tough to do... I think most Kentucky fans had just assumed that they would beat Tennessee this year. I think it's safe to say that the orange and white is in your heads just a bit and zaps your confidence in much the same way Florida zaps ours.

I really don't understand why Stoops/Gran don't use Wilson as a runner more, especially on 1st and 2nd downs. It's obvious defenses are determined to shut Snell down and he still is involved in 2/3 of UK's offensive plays.

UK's WRs are really, really bad. Those are veteran WRs for the most part but they had a lot of trouble getting separation from UT's freshmen CBs, and when they manage to do so they can't catch the ball. That little slot, Bouvier, and the TEs, especially Conrad, are good, but they don't get targeted much.

The UK defense is extremely undisciplined when things don't go their way. I was surprised there were not more unsportsman penalties called on them all through the game.

Do you think UK's offensive issues are on Gran or Stoops, or is it a combination? Gran's offense was a lot more wide open at Cincy, and Stoops' previous 2 OCs, Shannon Dawson and Neal Brown have been successful elsewhere. Do you think Stoops is not allowing his OC's to be aggressive? And if so, why?

It has to be Stoops micromanaging Gran. Stoops is very happy to win ugly games. Gran rightfully adjusted the offense in 2016 to a run-first team when we realized Boom and Benny were legit. But now we have way more weapons at QB, TE, WR and we still try to simply run straight up the middle over and over. It's baffling. Is Wilson a fantastic QB? No. But we don't use his skills at all.

Outside of Bowden, no one else gets chances on a regular basis. It's an effort and mental issue. Dorian Baker, Richardson, and Conrad all have high potential, but I don't think they have been developed at all while at UK. I see the same issues of drops and lack of effort (Conrad is a good blocker though).

The UK defense is extremely undisciplined when things don't go their way. I was surprised there were not more unsportsman penalties called on them all through the game.

I'd probably be losing my mind too if I was holding teams to 10-20 points a game but the offense can't get to midfield. And now that you mention it, we do have quite a few players who enjoy talking. Stoops has a pretty bad temper at times, so not surprising the team is hot headed as well.

Earlier in the year, I was watching UK against USC and they were killing USC by running Snell continuously. I remember thinking that they needed to stop that and work on the passing game. Wilson is a decent QB but if you don't allow him to throw downfield, how is he ever going to improve? I think Snell has been overworked. He seems to have lost a bit.

thanks LC...some of us were thinking we had a shot, but that beatdown, to me anyway, was a total surprise...must say, that sure didn't look like the Kentucky team I saw beat the Gators...you guys ran into a buzzsaw yesterday...good luck the rest of the season...

GO VOLS...BEAT TIGERS!

Lol, remember when SEC rivals were rivals and not people we coddled around here. Who gives a **** what opposong fans have to say whether it be positive or negative?
It's a variant on "Act like you've been here before, and expect to be here again."

j/k, mostly

You're a good one LC. While I am truly happy that UT pulled out the win, I honestly thought that Saturday was going to go down a lot differently.

I agree with a few of my Vol brethern above, I think you guys are mismanaging your QB and some weapons on offense, and placing too much on Snell. However, you guys caught the nation's attention in football this year, so congrats. I'm a fan of a strong SEC, and your team certainly showed up this year.

I hope UK puts an @ss whoopen on whomever you guys face in a bowl game. SEC-SEC-SEC!
