No doubt about this game guys. Yes, there were some first game mistakes here and there but for the most part the team looked sound. The o-line had a nice push the entire game, rb's picked up blocks on passing plays, Kevin Cooper made some nice blocks and nice catches. The wide receivers and tight ends had zero drops if my memory serves me right.

The defense, except for that one series where they kept hitting us on the outside tackles, looked amazing. Compliments to Coach O getting the front nasties ready. They looked quick and had great technique getting by the o-linemen.

Special teams kinda went as expected. We had Nuke make a couple of freshmen type mistakes but you could definitely tell that he is going to be dynamite for years to come. This was the first time I actually have seen him in a game play and everyone was right on how quick he is!!!

While I agree that the team looked well prepared, I think we should hold our judgement until next week...UCLA is a much more formidble opponent

I disagree with some of those grades. 3 turnovers is totally unacceptable

I agree with you. You know and I know that if this was Fulmer's team today the score would have resembled a score more like 28-17 today.

I like the mentality he is instilling in his players. Never let off the throttle. There is no time to become complacent or play with complete intensity the entire game. It was very noticeable throughout the game.

I don't predict that we win out the rest of the year but if this is only a taste of things to come then I can only think this team has a bright future. We will have some growing pains and see some losses down the road but its going to get better before it gets worse with this team. '

I can handle a loss much better whenever it happens knowing that the team gave 100% effort. That effort being that they prepared to the best that they could and were mentality prepared before every game.

QB: A- (The minus is for the 2 INTs and tipped passes at the line. Other than those plays, flawless).

RBs: A (Would be A+ perfect score if not for Montario's fumble)

O-line: A+ (380 yards rushing, and I think zero sacks...perfect score)

WRs: A+ (No dropped passes that I saw, how about Hancock?? Zero catches last year, 5 already this year!)

D-line: A (If not for that one drive by WKU, it'd be an A+ perfect score)

LBs: A+ (Great tackling, great pursuit...flawless)

DBs: A+ (No complaints here)

Special teams: B (Great job by Lincoln on the PATs, kickoffs could've been a little better, Nuke's muffed punt dropped this score quite a bit. Other than that, SOLID).

In the overall scheme of things, I don't think the turnovers, especially the early ones, were particularly bad, considering the situation.

It was the first game of the season under a new coach for the first time since before half of these players were probably born with a quarterback who was the subject of much disdain coming into the season, so the pressure was probably even more intense than it ever is on opening day...

After they settled in, they were as good as anyone could've hoped. Crompton's 2nd pick really wasn't on him, so to see him play the way he did today was extremely encouraging. Last year, he would not have performed that way against WKU, regardless.

I think Warren dropped one on one of the early drives.

I will agree with one of the turnover's. The two interceptions were not ill-judged throws by Crompton. The offensive line needs to pancake the d-linemen when they go up like that. I agree with you though. Turnovers are turnovers no matter how you defend them. Historically good teams do not turn over the ball and the staff has to address the problem.

I am only stating that the turnovers except for the fumble by the rb are easily fixable.

Turnovers are always unacceptable, but that being said Crompton looked better than most thought he would today...I liked Kiffin's rythym calling plays today, he was real methodical and didn't bat an eye lash...I also liked the fact that he was pissed at half time with only being up 28 points...He doesn't like to leave points out there on the field and that's definitely a good thing, for any coach

I'm not trying to bash on Fulmer right now but I think that is the big difference in this years staff and last year. Fulmer played not to lose and this staff seems to play to win.

I would rate special teams much lower. Dropped punt is one piece, but what bothered me was WKU's starting position... too many times we kicked it to the goal line and they ended up on the 25 or 30.

What I loved about the O is that there was a rhythm. They actually got into a rhythm!!!! What a concept!

Got to drop the grade with the turnovers and penalties. Defense gets A.

Playing not to lose worked for Fulmer for a long time with the conservative approach, now it pays off to gamble, or at least it seems to more often than not.

The the first one Crompton threw, that one was on him, he stared a hole right through the guy he was throwing to and hit the LB in the chest and it went up in the air

I think the 2nd one, I didn't get to see what happened because I was heading to work but it sounded like it got tipped at the lined of scrimage, I don't think you could put that on Jon but that's JMO

i totally concur....i loved how even when we were up by like 6 TD's, we didn't let off the gas...that says something about Kiffin's way of cocahing...i loved the playing to win and not to lose....that will help us down the road when we play UF, Bama and UGA...Go Vols!

Here's my thoughts:

QB:A+ I know there were two interceptions, however, they were tipped passes, and early in the game. Didn't ruin us at all. To a certain extent you could put some blame on the receivers. But Crompton only missed 7 passes, one of those was a drop by Warren, and well...technically the interceptions were caught too, lol. Let's face it. Crompton did amazing today. He needed this. More touchdowns TODAY then in ALL year last year. Stephens did well as well. 4-4 for 44. I'm sure Bray took notice.

RB: A++ All 4 RB's looked AMAZING. Hardesty blew me away. I never expected 160 yards from him. He ran extremely well, and I will forgive the fumble. Bryce was everything I expected. Scared when he took a bit to get up after one play. Oku did well, I was glad to see him get 2 TD's. Tauren Poole ran hard, I think he should get more carries. I felt for him, getting to the 2, and then Oku got the touchdown. He almost got one on the last play too. He needs to play more.

WR: A Freshmen, Freshmen, Freshmen. Sad that Nuke never got in the endzone, but Hancock got in the action, Teague made great plays, Zach Rogers got a pass, Fullbacks were involved, and the TE is obviously going to be a weapon this year. Warren made a good catch in the endzone, but he also dropped one. Receivers looked good. Imagine if GJones would have been back.

OL: A No sacks, and there's no way that we could have gotten so many yards on the ground without them opening up holes. Good job to them.

DL: A 5 sacks i think? I was wondering if WKY was even going to get a legit first down. Under 100 yards for WKU. Great job.

LB: A++ Monte had to be thrilled with Savion Frazier and LaMarcus Thompson. Awesome Game

DB's: A++ the only way EB won't win Heisman is if we have games like today. Unfortunately, it seems that people have to cross the line for EB to get to them. He had one tackle.

Special Teams: C - Great job on kickoffs, love to see some touchbacks and one yard line kicks. Good job on PAT's. Did we even punt? I gave it a C because Nuke has GOT to stop bobbling punts. But he will. I'm confident. He just can't make those mistakes against SEC teams.

Overall? A++ VERY few plays offensively failed, RB's ran consistently, Defense played physically, QB play made me feel a lot better. We know what JC is capable of now. The only knocks I have: Too many penalties and too many turnovers. Fumbling is just simply not acceptable. The interceptions happen, good D, bad hands, whatever. But fumbles are just handing the defense the ball. Gotta improve.

CANNOT wait for UCLA next week. I'm wondering how long it will be before Bray commits. I definitely believe a statement was made this weekend.

TNHopeful505....

I have to downgrade the RBs for Hardesty's fumble to an A+
As for Berry, there are a lot of way's he doesn't win the Heisman. He is a longshot...he has to really pull some amazing stuff, even for number 14.

Today was a great game. Tennessee put up about 1 or 2 more TDs than I *expected*. However, this was a horrible team we were facing, so it' hard to figure out just how much improved we are. We are improved, I don't doubt that. I'm looking forward to next week as the proverbial measuring stick.

two tips at the line......stuff happens...some days those fall to the ground....today they were interceptions..were not blatant misreads and thrown to the defense.
