Well, Petrino just fired the entire Arkansas def staff

I just don't see the logic in this. What are you going to do? Hire Kevin Steele and try to install a defense in a week and hope firing their entire staff doesn't make the D just lay down or transfer out?
My guess is it is something like insubordination. The Defensive staff probably told the old OC/interim HC to leave them alone and CBP couldnt allow that to stand.

Maybe Petrino will claim he’s doing the DC job alone but secretly hire an unidentified woman to be the actual defensive coordinator

They have the chance to get the new staff in place ...
How do you get a viable "new staff" in place when all the coaches that are competent are coaching elsewhere? And, how motivated do you think the remaining staff will be when they are likely going to be looking for employment elsewhere at the end of the season? It was time to unite the staff--not gut it. If our D plays well vs. Arky, we score 70+.

One thing I'm very interested to see is if that teams plays as hard for Petrino as they did Pittman. I don't see him getting more out of what they've got.

I also find it odd they chose to fire him after losing a game Arkansas is supposed to lose to. I don't know who was favored or care—the disparity in those two rosters couldn't be more apparent. Notre Dame has resources Arkansas couldn't hope to have. I guess it's because Pittman doesn't make a habit of losing to teams he's supposed to beat?
It was the way they lost. It was over at half and the team gave up. Also, they lost to Memphis the previous week and he had an overall losing record. If I had Petrino in the wings and Tayler Green healthy, I’d take that since the season is pretty much already lost.
