one man doesn't make a team, mobile or not. we're playing a style of football that is dated and not innovative. we're getting outcoached, not outplayed.
I'm a supporter of Cut's, and I'll admit, I was completely baffled by what he was tryng to do. The two TD drives looked great. But the playcalling on all the rest (except at the end before the final INT- which Ainge was already hearing footsteps and hallucinating by that point to execute it correctly) looked like it came from an old playbook for a completely different opponent.
The offense, when executed correctly, is a good one. Not as flashy as a spread, or as gritty as a pound the rock attack, but still good. I think Cut has shown a lot more innovation this year by incorporating elements of the spread into the Tenn playbook utilizing the personel he has. But I agree, there's lots of old tired out plays and formations that no matter how executed are instantly recognizable and stopped, even by a injury plagued and tired defense.
Our front 7 played tremendously, but I fault Chavis for not pressuring RP every play. And our DBs have no clue how to play (except Berry, but I'm guessing he learned most of that from friends of family, family, or HS coaches). We let a back up who cannot cycle progressive reads and stares down receivers throw for 250 yds; even with a deeply cut finger on his throwing hand. UNACCEPTABLE.
And yes, I COMPLETELY agree eveything lined up for the VOLS to take this SEC title, especially other teams losing and as beat up as LSU was. It will never be any easier that it was saturday, and it was left there instead of being brought back to Knoxville.
