Almost winning a game is now a "sign of greatness?"

He's not shown great passing ability since the surgery.

All he needs to do is complete 8 yard curl routes.:)

I'm more concerned with his decision making than his arm strength.

I have confidence in the coaches. If Crompton isn't fit to be an SEC QB then he won't be. We have a whole spring, summer and fall to figure that out. It will be fine

I think he will be fine, and want him to win the starting job, but did anyone not think we would run on that play?

exactly. line JC up like that and have him do his best t teabag imitation, fake the run and then THROW.

that might have been a game changer.

I said we'd be 9-3 this season.

Wow, bold prediction! I think 9-3/9-4 are a staple at this point.

Really though I've found myself agreeing 100% with you lately. I have a feeling things are going to be worse next year.

Next year might be worse than this year. UF and UGA will be much better, plus bama will start getting real good soon with saban. I need a drink---no, make it several.

That was a tough loss BUT I am very proud of the team that showed up yesterday. Our defense played great against a very good LSU offense. We had not one penalty the entire frikin game. We were well coached and had the opportunity to come home with the SEC tite and a BCS birth. What I have no respect for is the way that SOME of you relentlessly bash our coach, AD, and players. We are (in my opinion) a great program and I am very proud to be a Volunteer. Maybe if there was less time spent on such negative threads and more support shown for OUR team - win OR lose, then we would all be better off. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

one man doesn't make a team, mobile or not. we're playing a style of football that is dated and not innovative. we're getting outcoached, not outplayed.

I'm a supporter of Cut's, and I'll admit, I was completely baffled by what he was tryng to do. The two TD drives looked great. But the playcalling on all the rest (except at the end before the final INT- which Ainge was already hearing footsteps and hallucinating by that point to execute it correctly) looked like it came from an old playbook for a completely different opponent.

The offense, when executed correctly, is a good one. Not as flashy as a spread, or as gritty as a pound the rock attack, but still good. I think Cut has shown a lot more innovation this year by incorporating elements of the spread into the Tenn playbook utilizing the personel he has. But I agree, there's lots of old tired out plays and formations that no matter how executed are instantly recognizable and stopped, even by a injury plagued and tired defense.

Our front 7 played tremendously, but I fault Chavis for not pressuring RP every play. And our DBs have no clue how to play (except Berry, but I'm guessing he learned most of that from friends of family, family, or HS coaches). We let a back up who cannot cycle progressive reads and stares down receivers throw for 250 yds; even with a deeply cut finger on his throwing hand. UNACCEPTABLE.

And yes, I COMPLETELY agree eveything lined up for the VOLS to take this SEC title, especially other teams losing and as beat up as LSU was. It will never be any easier that it was saturday, and it was left there instead of being brought back to Knoxville.

Sad that Houston Nutt cares more about the fans at Arky than Phil does about Tennesseans. So long as he's getting his $2million+ a year he will never leave.
Houston Nutt? Fulmer could take a page or two from Lloyd Carr, as well. But whatever... he's not going anywhere. The good thing about next year is that I believe we could be at a point where our playmakers could actually nullify most of our coaching deficiencies.

I listend to Doug Matthews on Big Orange Sunday this morning say that he thinks UTK will be a better team next year but the record probably will not reflect any improvement because of the schedule/talent level of the competition.

I see you wavored on the UGA pick...not so confident are you?

Yeah, I said 10-2, with losses to UGA and UF. But I don't think we have the talent or coaching to compete with Florida. Everyone else on next year's schedule should be winnable games.

Every game this season was pretty damn winnable. That didn't stop us from putting up practically 0 points against an inexperienced Florida D and getting drilled by a terrible Bama team. We got beat pretty soundly by an awful Cal team, as well.
