Welcome young Mr. LaMaison

definitely a good pickup. can compete this year and play next if no big name qb committs. possibly allow diamond in the rough prospect to blossum. or just out right take the job and kick butt for three years.

so, the real question that hasn't been answered 5647 times in this thread is: can he play this year?

In the recruiting thread I asked the same question and someone pointed it out to me that yes he would be able to. It's weird I know, but apparently he almost goes on the 09 list. He was just waiting on passing a class or something to enroll.

Well.....the press release about his signing has been removed.

Nick Lamaison’s courtship with Tennessee got more confused Thursday when his school’s Web site prematurely reported that he had made his college decision.

Mt. San Antonio Community College reported the quarterback had signed with UT late Wednesday evening. The Web site removed the story Thursday afternoon.

“We will truly miss Nick, however we are excited for him and his opportunity to play and challenge for the starting job at Tennessee,” offensive coordinator Tom Craft was quoted as saying on athletics.mtsac.edu before the story was removed. “Had he stayed for another season with us, he would have challenged many of the all-time community college records.”

While Lamaison has long been in the Vols’ plans, he has declined to admit he has signed with UT for the past month.

When reached by the News Sentinel on Thursday, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder had no comment.

There’s reason for UT to want to keep Lamaison’s signing quiet. The Vols are still in the hunt for a more high-profile quarterback for the 2010 class, Jesse Scroggins of Lakewood (Calif.) High School. Lamaison would be available to play this fall and could enroll in class in August.

Lamaison was mostly overlooked coming out of South Hills High School in West Covina, Calif. He improved his stock by his play at Mt. San Antonio, although UT is thought to be the only major college pursuing him.

Lamaison proved an efficient passer at Mt. San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Calif., where he threw for 3,479 yards, 36 touchdowns and posted a passing efficiency of 166.5.

He could have played another season at Mt. San Antonio but has apparently declined to do so.

Last season as a freshman, Lamaison led the Mounties to a conference and Southern California championship.

Lamaison could provide some important depth for the Vols this season. UT has only two scholarship quarterbacks on its roster: senior Jonathan Crompton and junior Nick Stephens.

Here's hoping he does something similar for the early portion of the Kiffin Era to that which Josh Heupel did for the start of Bob Stoops' time at OU.

Yes , I do to, also was hoping Rozier looks good, I spoke with his buddy @ publix to day he was my cashier and he said he talked to some of his family last week and hes very excited to be there and wants to go to the NFL and that he felt like Kiffin and Chaney could get him there. And his buddy said if Quincy could get drafted then Mike should have no problem. and this guys a die hard Ga fan.

If you consider it a flame, that is your choice. Bama has had and currently has Juco transfers that I am very proud of, and simply meant it as what it was labelled - "Congratulations to the Vols"
sc,

There seems to be at least one A__HOLE in every crowd. Best to just ignore them rather than acknowledge their ignorance. Post anytime you want and thanks for the congrats.

So, how exactly do you pronounce his last name? I've heard it said three different ways.

Supposedly already has 12 hours under his belt. Kid is all business.

12 hours? Unless he came to UT with credits from a high school/college prep couse, that seems pretty impossible for someone with a life. I'm guessing this is an exaggeration.
